I am struggling a little here. I have great credit, high scores, great limits, great cards.
For the life of me I don't get Wells Fargo. I have a Visa with them since 2010, starting limit 2k. Got one $ 600 auto CLI.
Today I call, prepared to take a HP to really make some hay.....
No HP, no real review of anything, but system gave me $700. Total CL with them on the one card is now 3.3k, my other Wells Visa is stuck at 3.5k.
I even tried to combine the two, and I offered to close the two and get the new Sig Visa...
I just don't get them. I have good accounts with them, business and personal, good balances, never late, high deposits too.
Even speaking with a banker at my branch, he said not much we can do at a local level for Credit Cards, sorry...
J.
I hate wells and this even adds more to my hate for them... they don't care... go take your money and accounts elsewhere and get rewarded for it
If you want a HP CLI, you can always ask for one. Like Discover and Citi, HP CLIs tend to be more generous than SPs.
What they're doing really isn't out of the norm compared to other lenders. However, they're a lot more conservative. If you're expecting them to be anywhere as generous as any of the CUs or GE, you will be extremely disappointed. The only real downside to WF is that their rewards are pretty lackluster right now. Their credit card is pretty much just a standard 1% rewards card once the sign-up promo expires.
One possible reason is that you have 171k in total CL, and your income is now the limiting factor.
And one more thing to add, having a >5k CL doesnt mean you will be able to get the visa signature card. Currently the only ways to get it is to either put in a new application and hope you get it, or wait to be invited.

+1
I like WF and I don't hate them. But they can be an odd lender for sure.
I have had my WF Visa Platinum for nearly 2 years. Started 6K and received auto cli of 1500 on 14th statement and recently another on 20th statement. Now 9K. Hoping they continue to show me this same kind of luv every 6 months. I've got a checking/savings with them for 11 years and 2 auto loans. Not sure if that amounts to anything in regards to this card?
If you are prepared for the HP, I would ask for them to route it up to Credit for additional consideration.
