My wife and I have an annual where I buy her tickets for a Detroit Red Wings game for her birthday every year. I usually aim for the end of the season, since traveling through Michigan in the dead of winter isn't much fun. Long story short, last year, I bought tickets (through Ticketmaster) for a game on March 28th, 2020. Obviously, the game didn't happen, since everything is on lockdown from COVID-19. However, since the NHL has officially only "postponed" their regular season and not canceled it, Ticketmaster is refusing to refund tickets for games that haven't taken place. At this point, it's been over two weeks since the game was supposed to happen, and there have been no announcements regarding rescheduled dates or anything about the remainder of the season. I bought the tickets with a Citi Double Cash card, and I'm wondering if it might be time to try for a chargeback. Anyone have any thoughts on my likelihood of success? Anyone else deal with a similar situation, COVID-related or otherwise?
Do the chargeback . Also, StubHub usually has better prices. Also, sign up on the Red Wings site. A couple of months ago they were two for one and $10 tickets.
Actually, it looks like I may be screwed. From what I'm reading elsewhere online, it sounds like there is generally a time limit of 120 days to file a chargeback, and I'm now well beyond that. Guess I'll have to cross my fingers that they cancel the season soon and I can get a refund that way.
