Tiffany & Co did me wrong

Went to buy some items and they asked if I wanted to apply for a card. I asked for the terms, they offered 1 year interest fee if I put 20% down. I tend to stay away from store only cards but said what the hey and did it. Instantly approved, compelted by transaction and went home. Finally received the card and the CL is $4000 however my balance is $5900!!!! WTH, how can they approve me and then proceed to max me out!! Needs to say not a very happy camper. I'll have it paid off in a few weeks. I should have just used another card in my wallet but wanted the one year interest free.

Lol 😂.....I’m sorry. Normally the customer is told the limit at the time of check out. I definitely would have asked.

To be honest it didn't even cross my mind. Scores over 790 across the board, good income. Just never occured to me they would approve my app with the limit to be under the purchase amount. Esp when they asked for 20% down.

Something's definitely off about that. Who issues the Tiffany's card? I think you should call their CS or even their EO and try to get a CLI on that card so you're not underwater.

Its a hidden TL so no one will see it maxed if that is what you are concerned about?

OP, this is totally unrelated, but I would update your siggy; the Target RedCard Visa no longer exists. Smiley Wink

OP, if it's a hidden TL like CC has mentioned then I wouldn't worry about it.  As long as you're not dinged for an over-the-limit fee and the entire purchase is at 0%, I'd let it ride.

Re: Tiffany & Co did me wrong

i tried calling but they are only open Mon thru Fri 7am to 4p.m. EST. It's ok, don't feel like fighting it. I'm just going to pay it off and move on.
