I know this subject has been beat to death but I was curious of other's experience after I got a United MileagePlus Explorer mail in offer today offering 50k points after 2k spend which is better than their website offer. I don't plan on applying for this card but I do want the Hyatt in a few months. I just got the CSP card last month and was a little shocked that I got this mail offer as this was the first ever offer I have received from Chase. Is it typical for Chase to send out offers like this right after you receive one of their others cards? Everyone seems to say wait around 6 months before apping for another. My brother is getting married in Italy inSeptember and I thought about trying to get the Chase Hyatt and combining the two free nights and some UM points to stay in Milan and Greece for about a week before I head down to his wedding. If they are sending me these offers this soon do you think I will be good to app in May or June for the Hyatt card?
Receipt of the offer has nothing to do with your approval last month, offers are set months in advance of the actual mailing. 6 months is prob a good amount of time between apps.

All I can speak of is my experience. I apped and received auto approval on SWA in November '13 and the apped and was approved on recon for Marriott Rewards in Feb '14. On recon the length of time that it had been between apps was not asked. That's my Chase experience
I definitely think it depends on your profile. And also believe that if you bank w/ Chase it would be great bonus as well. I'm never pre-qualified for anything besides FP on all pre-qual sites, at Chase pre-qual site they still don't have ANY offers for me....Well i took the plunge and went for CSP in October and was approved, yanked the chain again for Hyatt in November, and Pull the trigger again for Ritz in December...exactly one month apart between apps. I'm not apping for any more Chase cards, as I will treat my 3 cards with them for a loooonng time.
I got CSP in November '13 (it was my first CC with chase) I got the Marriott Premier almost exactly 2 weeks later. I got the exact same limit of 5k on both cards. So no, it is not necessary to wait 6 months between apps, however I think if had I waited a bit I would have likely gotten a higher initial limit on the Marriott card.
Sidenote: My CSP got an auto increase @ the 4th statement cut from 5k to 6k, waiting patiently to see if the Marriott Premier will follow suit.
A friend of mine applied for and was approved for a CSP in september. Two months later he applied for a Chase marriot credit card, and was denied by chase because he had reached the amount of credit that they were willing to give him ($7000). The CS told him to try again in 4 months.
That same week he went to a chase branch and opened a chase checking, and waited for 4 months, applied for the chase marriot, and was approved for 15k
All of his credit scores were in the high 700, with an AOA of 3 years when he first applied for the chase marriot credit card.
I wish I could open a Chase checking and savings account but since I live in Alabama there are no branches here. I hope to relocate soon for a new job and start one then. A little about my credit, all scores around 700 to 715, utilization 5-9%, 2 HP on Eq. & Exp. 0 on Trans., two new cards on the past year (CSP and BCE), and I have had my Freedom for over a year. No late payments, AAoA 4 years, and oldest account 6 years. If I apply for the Hyatt the earliest it would be is after the 4th statement in June. I would need time to get the two free nights and book the rooms before I head oversees so waiting 6 months couldn't happen.

Not sure about the Hyatt card but when I received my Marriott card the free night certificate appeared in my Marriott Rewards account before the card even arrived So I would think your 4 mos time frame would be good. Other than that your profile looks a little better than mine so I would say you would be good. But I don't parented to understand how lenders think sometimes. Good luck on whatever you decide
The invitation number that I got for the Mileageplus Explorer, would my friend be able to use it instead of me to get the better bonus or is it tied to my name only?
