Time between applications?

I applied for and received a Citibank card last week. There are a few other cards I'd like to apply for. How long should I wait before applying? I know its not good to apply for too many cards in a short period of time. Should I wat a month, two...a year? Thanks for all the help.

Re: Time between applications?

Not sure how this works anymore but if there are certain cards you wnt I would apply for them all at the same time, max two or three.  That way the other inq aren't affecting you at the time of application.  that being said, if you use this stategy just make ure its a good long time before you apply again.  This way all accounts have a chance to age 6 mos to a year.

Get your drool factor on while you wai and research what will be the best cards for you.

Re: Time between applications?

I hit it hard in September 7 apps - got 4 cards other 3 turned down (1 for excessive apps) - figure by nect October I should be clear (and ONLY 1 then a CU Visa).  The rest of my stuff I'll ask for CLI on (and only if a soft pull) before then.

Citi manages a whole slew of cards (Exxon, Citgo, Home Depot, etc) - you may not need to app, just wait for the offers in about 6 months with a good payment history (it will be an INQ then so be selective in what you go for)

Yes, you are exactly right about Citi offering other cards. I am interested in their ExxonMobil card, and the Home Depot. I also applied for their Drivers Edge card, which was supposed to be an instant decision, but I got a notice instead stating they would have to review it further, so not too sure where that one is headed yet, I'll either get a denial letter or that card this week. Either way, since August, I've applied for 4 cards and have so far received 3 of them.

Re: Time between applications?

Brammy is right on about app'ing and timing. I applied for(and got) 3 cc's all within a week of each other, from the last week of September, into the first week of October.

No more app'ing for me until next summer(well maybe a little before, but you get the idea) Smiley Happy
