How long do you have to wait to reapply for a card that declined you?
Pappy214,
this appears to vary by issuer and according to the reason for the initial denial. it can't hurt to call and see if you get someone on the phone who knows the answer. of course it is a good idea to consider a reapp in connection with other data as well: util, # of new accounts, number of inq.'s, age of credit history, etc.
The reason I ask is Cap 1 denied me in July, and just sent another "pre-approved" offer. (Same letter I got in July in fact.) I keep thinking, why? You know fool me once...
I am not going to apply, but if Cap 1 has a standard of waiting six months between apps this is almost cruel.

I would probably skip Capital One alltogether as they'll probably lock you into a very low limit and you'll end up kicking yourself for it later when it's the lowest credit line you have and you have to beg for CLI's that they simply refuse to give.
Checkout the BoA preselector and see if you're pre-approved for something there, or a credit union.
How were you scores when you applied for Capital One? Your history?

pappy, cap1 told me you must wait a minimum of 45 days between applications.

You must answer the question: Is 3 hards worth a low limit Cap1 card?
for some people, such as myself, it certainly is. in two months i got my cap1 card CL up to where it took me 2 years to get one of my subprime cards to, despite literally begging for a CLI. after my 2 credit steps increases, i'll probably be at $2K. that's more than all 3 of my subprime cards combined. so while some people may look down on "low limit" cards, for some of us, it's a great place to start.

... just sayin' that there are better creditors willing to take a chance on someone without wasting inquiries on Cap1.
