Time for App Spree! Chase, Regions, Fifth Third + suggestions please.

Hey guys,

I would truly appreciate your input before I pull the trigger please, if you can.

I am getting ready to apply for at least 2 more cards or more.

Primary goal is to have a long intro 0% APR for purchase and BT.

I am at 800+ on all bureaus (FICO 9)

5% Overall util

3 cards being used, with balances at 17% Discover, 28% Wells and 27% CitiCard

Only 2 hard inquiries on Equifax during the past 2 years. No HPs on the other 2 bureaus.

I have cards with:

Citi, Amex, Discover, Cap One , Wells and US bank.

I am trying to get in with other lenders as it seems that I am at the max available CL with them.

Prequals:

Chase:

I have pre approval offer that was for 21 months from chase.

It unfortunaley expired 2 days ago and I missed that and now that card is at 18 months.

Their prequal tool says I am prequalifed for the Slate and the Freedom card.

However, I see that they have the Freedom Unlimited and Freedom Flex

With my profile, which card would be easier to get a higher initial credit limit and is it a wast to apply for 2 cards with them?

Do they use one pull for 2 apps or will be 2 hard inquiries?

Also, are they Equifax pullers?

Regions:

Preselected for the Cash rewards card 0% 18 months and $250 bonus

This one sounds good, but I have no relationship with regions other than a bank account I had many years ago with them.

Are they too conservative with the initial credit limits?

Equifax hard pulls?

Fifth Third:

Pre approval letter invitation. No set APR so, just marketing Cash back card 1%  with 21 months 0% Apr

Do they give low initial credit limits?

Equifas HP?

Wells Fargo,

I tried their pre approval tool and stated they had no offers for me.

I already have 3 cards with them, so not sure if it would be a good idea to try for the Reflect card, which is the one that offers the longest intro at 21 months.

I currently have a card with a balance, have 3 total cards with them + bank account and one card I use and pay off completely each month.

Suggestions on wells or forget it?

Any other suggestions for cards that have long intro promos?

Should I use this spree to apply for more than 2 cards?

Is it a good strategy to go with new lenders that I do not have?

Sorry for all the questions, but I thought I might as well make a thorough post.

Thanks for reading.

Best

Re: Time for App Spree! Chase, Regions, Fifth Third + suggestions please.

Diversity in lenders is always good.  With that credit score and utilization, you should have your pick of issuers.

Keep in mind that you usually can't do 0% balance transfers from another card at the same bank.  For example, if you did get the Wells Fargo Reflect, you wouldn't be able to transfer the balance from your other Wells Fargo card.

Any of the Chase cards would be good and they usually give decent credit limits.  I'm not sure how they feel about people trying to get multiple cards with them at once, but I'm pretty sure each will be a separate hard pull.  You can freely product change between them later on as needed too.  I think Chase will pull either Equifax or Experian depending on where you live.

Another good option would be the Baxter credit union (BCU) cards.  They were a FOTM a few months ago since they were giving out 10-20k credit limits what seemed like everyone.  No prequalification option though.  I think all of them have 0% for 18 months balance transfers with a 3% fee.  They pull Transunion and will use the same hard pull for multiple products.  At least one poster on here got 2 cards + a line of credit with only 1 hard pull.  Their line of credit is pretty nice since the rate goes as low as 10.74%    I believe their whole limit is available for use with balance transfers, though your credit score would take a bit of a hit with that.

Re: Time for App Spree! Chase, Regions, Fifth Third + suggestions please.

@DakotaM Thank you for replying.

True. I won't be looking to BT from wells to wells. I am just trying to find out whether they have already given me all they can as far as products and credit limits. It seems that way, so I rather maximize my HPs with better odds.

Regions sounds good so far with their offer of $250 and 18 months intro.

As for Chase I need to decide which one to apply.

Which of these would yield a higher initial credit limit or may be easier to get?

Between Slate, Freedom Unlimited and Freedom Flex?

Anyone with experience with Fifth Third? Are they stingy with their initial limits and to make it grow would they require hard pulls?

Anyways, I know I asked a lot of questions here. Thanks for reading. I am gathering as much info as I can.

I personally had a terrible experience with 5/3 and that product isn't your best option.

Your FICO8 scores are more important to Chase as a Lender, prominently EX and always a possibilty of a second CB . If those scores are comparable to your F9 scores, then I'd think you have more luck with higher limits there, as opposed to smaller banks. We haven't seen many DPs for the Slate Edge, but there have been members who have gotten great SL on the CFF and CFU. Those two meet your needs in 0%, while not the longest amount of time, come with benefits you can use beyond that promo period.

Re: Time for App Spree! Chase, Regions, Fifth Third + suggestions please.

You can currently pre qualify with Regions on their website and it will show you what your credit limit will be before you accept the offer. You currently do not have to be a customer to pre qualify for a Regions credit card so maybe you'll get a high enough SL that you'll want to go for it! Good luck.

Re: Time for App Spree! Chase, Regions, Fifth Third + suggestions please.

@DakotaM Thank you for suggesting BCU. I have to become a member first correct? Should I do that by creating a checking account? I saw their cards and they are just as good as Chase or any other. So thank you for the suggestion.

@user979797 Thanks! I pre qualified through their website and I was offered a $3500 CL with 12 months and $200 bonus.

I do have a mailed offer from them that offers me $250 bonus and 18 months 0% (expires in november)

I wonder why the discrepancy and also wonder if their $3500 credit line would be more if apply using the code on the mailing.

@Blender Will check CFU and CFF. Thank you

Re: Time for App Spree! Chase, Regions, Fifth Third + suggestions please.

@Superduper2014 The Regions mailed offer is a exclusive offer not offered on their website so that's why it's different. I would for sure use your mailed offer to take advantage of the additions if you want to apply. When i was pre qualified with them and I accepted it was approved for the amount it showed me so I think you have a terrific chance based on your pre qualifications. Regions has a term it option now with their credit cards that compares with some of the bigger banks' cards to pay out larger purchases at a lower rate as an additional perk justy FYI.

They primarily pull Transunion and will do so for increase requests as well. Based on my experience they are generous with increase requests even though it is a hard pull.

Wishing you the best of luck and if you decide to apply please let us know the outcome (hopefully in the approval boards).

Re: Time for App Spree! Chase, Regions, Fifth Third + suggestions please.

@Superduper2014 Regions isn't always instant approval and sometimes they like to verify ID first in underwriting. They are still old school and they take a little time sometimes hopefully it's all good in the end. Regions cards can go pretty high limit wise so it's a decent option limit wise long term.

As for other suggestions based on wanting 0% apr for BTs and purchases that aren't in your current lineup; I thought I would suggest some for you to check out based on what you are looking for:

1. Truist future card has a 0% apr for 15 months on bts and purchases while their cash rewards has 0% apr for purchases only and for 12 months. You can pre qualify on their website and it will show you what cards you qualify for if you do and what your APR will be if you accept. When i did this there was no hard pull after accepting the offer and getting the card but CLI requests will require a hard pull in the future and not sure how generous they are with starting limits or increases.

2. PenFed credit union. Anyone can join now. They have a gold card that has 0% apr for 15 months on BTs and purchases. Also it is worth noting that ever since I have been with them anytime i have called in there was always a ongoing 0% bt offer available with them so that could be helpful down the road if that continues. Max APR is 17.99% on all transactions. You can pre qualify on their website and it shows the limit but there pre qualification isn't as solid as say Truist or Regions. They also have a power cash rewards card with 12 month 0% apr on balance transfers and a 100.00 sub. Gold card has 15K max limit and PCR has 25K max limit but you can obtain multiple credit products from them using the same hard pull each time as well as increase requests.

3. Bank Of Americas customized cash rewards 3% 2% 1%  has a 0% apr for purchases and balance transfers for 15 months and future limit increase requests are soft pulls. You can grow to a huge limit with them over time if they allow it. It also has a 200.00 sub. No pre qualify.

4. Citizens Bank 0%apr for 18 months on their clear value mastercard. No prequalification and I believe it's possible to get soft pull limit increases with them.

5. PNC Bank (If you are in their footprint or can open an online bank account with them to obtain): The Core Visa has a 0% apr for 15 months for purchases and balance transfers or you could get their points visa card that has 0% apr for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers and get a 100.00 SUB. PNC limit increases are always soft pulls and the limit can grow large over time and start out decent with decent scores but I do not know how they feel about inquiries. No prequalification unless your already a customer.

6. UMB credit card: Cant pre qualify but all of their cards come with a 150.00 sub and 12 months 0% apr for purchases and BTs.

7. Patelco credit union: anyone can join: Website shows a pre qualification link but know nothing about it: The Pure Mastercard has a 0% apr for 6 months on BTs and the card has no BT fee or annual fee. Max limit is 50K and they can be very generous with limit increases.

There are a few more choices that aren't all mainstream. You can also search for pre qualified links if you want to find more that you can just see if you pre qualify with before you apply. FNBO shows you a limit as well before you accept, if you can get with them.

Hope you find what your looking for Smiley Happy

I would recommend getting whatever Chase cards you want first due to their 5/24 rule for new accounts.  With your scores you should be able to get approved for any of them. I recently got the Chase Sapphire Preferred with an $18,000 SL.  However, I was also 'Your already approved' for six others on Chase Credit Journey.  Two had limits of $18,000 (CSP and CSR), two were at $9,000 SL (both Freedom cards), one was at $6,000 SL (Slate), and the others did not list a starting limit.

I wouldn't rely on any pre-approved mailers from Chase.  I'm still getting them for the card I already have and I'm over 5/24.  Try their prequal site, and also sign up for Chase credit Journey.  It took about a month after I joined before I got the 'Your already approved' offers.

I don't think you can get two Chase cards with the same pull.  I know Chase has a few other rules besides the 5/24. You can search on this forum or google Chase credit card rules to find out.  My wife had two Chase cards approved within a couple weeks but not sure if it was two pulls.

Have you considered another AMEX product? There would be no HP with them and they give high limits to those that have a great account history with them.
