Time it takes to report to CR

Anyone know how long it takes once your statment posts to you account for it to show up on your credit report.

my Discover statment posts on the 10th and it showed up online on the 11th i guess because of the weekend.

does it automatically report to my credit report or does it take a week or so.

Thanks

Re: Time it takes to report to CR

Almost all creditors report to the CRA in minutes to a day, sometimes two. Amex is errattic. Sometimes reporting on time, sometimes several weeks late. There are reports of them skipping a month entirely.

EX includes the info in your reports within hours.

EQ and TU include the info in a few days, almost always within a week.

Re: Time it takes to report to CR

The reason im asking is i want to apply for Amex Zync

last month my utilization was 70 %

this month i got it to 8%

since Amex use EX are you saying i would be good to go and apply now as far as it showing my new utilization.

When do you recommend me waiting till

Don't apply until you know that your new balances have posted. And this won't happen until the next statements drop, unless you paid before the statement, and everything shows as $0 (or whatever) on your cards.

Luckily, Experian usually posts the day that they receive the new info, which is generally (not always) the statement date. But AmEx has been known to pull additional reports.

American Express isn't going anywhere. No harm, and a lot of potential benefit, in waiting to make sure that everything has updated. Smiley Wink

Re: Time it takes to report to CR

ok what you just said confused me.  It sounds like your saying wait until my next statment comes up in nov to know that this statment has reported.  It should report before then though. Am i right.

Re: Time it takes to report to CR

Almost all CC Companies report the statment balance right after the statement closes.

For example my Citi Card statment is generated on the 12th of the month, which is today. At midnight tonight they will generate a statment. When I get up tomorrow, I could log on and see my statment online. EX will already have my report updated. TU and EQ will update in several days but show 10/12 as the last update.

My CapOne personal card statement also will close tonight. CapOne takes an extra day so I won't see it on my EX until 10/14.

When you pay the balance down is irrelevant to your reports since they report the statement balance.

The question is whether you paid before the most recent statement posted (posts.)

If you paid before it posted, go online for each account and see what the balance was as of the statement date. In almost all cases, that's what was reported to the CRA's (credit bureaus.)

If the statement showed a balance (which you have since paid), that balance was reported to the credit bureaus, and you'll have to wait until next month (= next statement) to have the new balance reported.

And if you use the cards again in the meantime, the new charges will report.

My citi closes on the 20th and if Citi reports right after closing then does anyone know how long it takes to post to FICO?

Re: Time it takes to report to CR

There's no reporting to Fair Isaac.  As soon as the report hits your credit report, it will be reflected in FICO score pulls from that CRA.  I sometimes see a day to a week variation in when the same TL hits each CRA.
