I'm one of the older aged folks here, so forgive me!
Was throwing out some old boxes from many years ago (10-15yrs) that I had in the attic and came across some old credit card statements and applications. Wondering what ever happened to these CCCs.
Corestates
First Bankcard Center (This group was not related to FNBO)
Fleet Bank
The Associates
NatWest Bank
Bank One
MBNA
Providian Bank
Advanta
There were a few others that I can't remember. If the trash hasn't been picked up by morning, I'll get the other names.

Your best bet is just do a Google search for these banks. Most were either bought out by other banks or closed due to bankruptcy.
Corestates is now part of Wells Fargo. Fleet bank and MBNA were absorbed by BofA and Bank One and Priovidian were rolled into Chase through various mergers and acquisitions. The rest? No clue, but yeah those names brought back some memories. I recently found an old newspaper magazine with an advertisement for first USA, they used send mailers like crazy and advertise in parade magazine back in the old days, when you had to mail in an application. Could you imagine having to wait a week plus for an answer?

Not sure of all of these... but if I recall correctly:
Fleet Bank eventually was absorbed by Bank of America
The Associates --> Citibank
Bank One --> Chase
MBNA --> FIA --> Bank of America
Providian --> WaMu --> Chase

That was one in my box that I had forgot. Thanks for reminding me!
I hate when banks get acquired by other banks. I lost 2 CDs this way. CDs purchased in the mid 80's when I was a young kid by family members for me. Both were acquired by other banks and lost at some point in the 90's. It took me about a decade to track one down, which I got about 10 years ago; it was only about $2500 but hey, money is money. The other CD today should be worth about $3200, possibly more depending on if it continued to roll over more than the 2 times that I know it rolled over. I've been unable to find it and have been looking for a very long time.
I know CDs aren't at all today what they were in the 80's so perhaps the chances of running into this problem in today's environment is far less, but it still bothers me.

Don't get me started on tracking down childhood finances. I was given an exceptionally large amount of savings bonds from my birth through adolescence by extended family. I don't know if savings bonds were the thing or something in the late '80s and '90s but I had an exceptional amount of them. Well, many had my parents as co-recipients and well, I bet you know how that went down...

I've been able to find old childhood accounts through my states controllers office of unclaimed funds. I suppose every state is different but in my case some old cds were turned over after five years where they sat with the state for another ten before I did a random check one day. if only the state were as enthusiastic as giving back money as they were collecting it

I remember Fkeet as the bank that took over Baybank. As others have said, now absorbed into BoA
NatWest is British, now part of the Royal Bank of Scotland but still retains the NatWst PLC name.
