Tips for Applying for AMEX BCE & AMEX Gold

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I was hoping someone could help me with applying for either the Amex BCE or the Amex Gold. Which one is the easiet to get? What are some tips or tricks to actually getting the card without getting rejected? My credit profile is about 2 years old. I have never had a single baddie what so ever. I have a total of 7 credit card all with balances of $50 or less . My income is about $50,000.00 will I have any trouble for applying to either one? If anything I really want to get both because my ultimate goal is to one day have the Platinum card. I'm planning on applying in January of 2014 so that will be exactly 6 months giving my credit time to rebuild itself.

Welcome to the forum! You indicate 6 mos to give your credit time to rebuild; did you mean recover from new accts?

Everyone says the charge cards have the requirements so might as well app for the plat if that is your endgame.

I assume the word "same" is missing!  But  yes, the understanding is that all charge cards (which are easier to get than the revolvers) have the same requirements, it's just a question of what AF you want to pay.

Welcome to the forum

When you answer the question above it will give us a better idea where you stand.

However If the answer is because of new accounts and your 6 months are near I would app the charge of your choice due to same underwriting and if approved app for whatever revolver you want immediately following. That's the best way to attempt to get 2 cards with one HP

Of course YMMV

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Tips for Applying for AMEX BCE & AMEX Gold

So I should i apply for the Amex BCE and Amex Gold at the same time to use only on hard inquiry or wait a few months then apply for the other? Are my chances good, my credit score was 780 according to BOA in March and in June 699 Transunion (too many new accounts lol) . I'm waiting 6 months so it can hopefully go up to 750 or higher

My credit history is only 2 years old I'm afraid Amex make think I'm a liability for having limited history. Which is why I'm settling for Gold at the moment

Yes exactly, my score used to 780 and most recently I applied alot and my transunion came up to be 699 so I'm waiting until January to improve my chances on getting gold

If you've opened that many cc's then waiting for 6 mos would be a good idea. When you are ready, app for the cc you want. Charge cards are supposedly easier to obtain and if you want both start there and if approved then immediately app for the BCE .

Do you want the Gold or the PRG?

+1 then at least if you don't get the BCE it will only be a soft pull.  If approved, a hard.  I learned that one the hard way recently as I assumed it was soft either way.
