To APP or not to APP?

Here's a quick rundown of my credit file all:

0 lates since 10/14
2 medical collections ~$1100 total
One CO STUDENT LOAN DELETED as of today!
Credit cards:

Barclay APPLE VIsa: $2480/3000 (0% apr)
Western FCU: $167/$1,000
Credit One: $300/$600
NFCU: $0 / $700
Finger hut: $0 / $250
Care Credit: $1449 / $3000

I want to app for another Barcaly card Rewards and a Chase Freedom. My scores aren't great, but both analysts have told me that they don't look at scores. I was denied months back due mainly to UTIL .. Which has gone from 81% to 47% overall. What should I say on Recon? I doubt I'll get an instant approval. Scores TU 601 EX 611 EQ 585

All my credit card accounts are 6-12 months old, but I have AAofA 7 years. Oldest is a 13 year old student loan, all current debt. Any advice from you appers and RECONERS would be appreciated!!!! I really want the Freedom and Barclay Rewarda! :-)

Re: To APP or not to APP?

My scores are much higher than that and I cannot get approved for the apple visa for anything! i wanted to get that and shut down the target since i dont want to have more store cards than majors. I dont get that.

Also I did not get the Barclay Rewards until I got my TU over 640 (it slipped just recently) so Im thinking it would get denied but thats just me. Good luck with whatever you try!

Re: To APP or not to APP?

I would hold off on apping.  Getting that utilization down some more should be key.  I was approved for Barclays @ a 630 credit score.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Re: To APP or not to APP?

Honestly, no offense, but I don't think you'd get approved; even with recon. Despite what the analysts may have told you, they do look at scores. That might not be *all* they look at it, but it is a good chunk of what they evaluate. Among other things, your util is still above the recommended ~30%, and with some collections still showing and less than a year since your last late payment, I just see it as tough to get in.

Re: To APP or not to APP?

Here's the thing guys. Barclay couldn't care less about scores. Some reps will tell you you need a 600 but that's bull. Lol I was approved for my APPLE at a 570 with $700 line. CLI after recon x 3 to $1500 then $3000. All under 600 scores. So I think Barclay really looks at overall usage and not scores.

Re: To APP or not to APP?

Omar -- see my above comment. Barclay approved my APPLE with a 570 score. I'm not worried about scores now as I am about UTIL and time really. I am more looking on advice of what to say at recon as to why i want their card etc

Re: To APP or not to APP?

Just saying. That could've been a one time thing. Not to mention Apple card seems to be the easiest one of their cards to get.

Re: To APP or not to APP?

Barclay denies me with a 700 score, and my utilization has never been over 20%. I hate you guys for getting approved at low 600s lol. I have a fairly new credit file though, less than a year other than auto loans.

Re: To APP or not to APP?

Aside from wether or not you will get approved I don't think it is generally a good idea for you to add another card at this point. You are carrying balances on 4 cards and all have pretty low limits. Adding another card just seems like you might be spreading your self too thin and might end up getting buried with too many payments per month. I suggest paying at least (2 preferably 3) of the lower cards off and keeping them at zero balance. Not only will this increase your score and lower your utilization but it will decrease your chances of credit calamity.
