Too Many HSBC cards, what is the limit?

I have a few cards that are credited through HSBC and when I look at some store cards they are issued through them too?  When my scores go up how can I obtain another card through them, I think Cap 1 does this too.

I currently have:

(3) HSBC subprime credit cards
(1) Discover Direct Platimum Card issued through HSBC

Do I eventually have to close one of the subprime to be considered for a card like Best Buy?

I think the school of thought is you can get multiple HSBC cards only if you're invited.  However, I'm guessing with 4 HSBC cards you'll have a hard time getting another until you close or try to combine a few.

(btw, I like my HSBC Discover card - tho it's getting the axe after I hit the $50 dollar gift card level!)

ETA:  I forgot about my other HSBC/Union Plus Card.  I LOVE this one b/c it's my highest TL at 6k.  I was 'invited' to the HSBC/DMB Disc Direct Rewards Plat.  (Dang, what a mouthful!)

By the way, I was approved because the regular Discover wouldnt take me - ha ha ha.  How is the program anyway?  What was your starting CL? Do they regularly review for CLI?  I have not heard too many positives about this card so can you fill me in.

HSBC mc: CL 600/bal 420

HSBC visa: CL 400/bal zero

HSBC mc CL 300: 0

Discover Direct Rewards Platinum Card: zero, was just apprved last week  CL500

I started at 1k, which is where I stand as of today.  I've had the card for 18 months.  I'm guessing I was mid/high 500's when I app'd. 

I was hoping when my other HSBC card saw an increase that this might prompt them over on the Disc side to increase this one.  So far no dice. 

They took a chance on me when nobody else would.  The rewards aren't bad, tho I'm sure I've paid for twenty $50 gift cards over the life of the card by paying interest.  It's just sort of a bland little card that has almost served its purpose.

Thanks for the input it is appreciated. When I get and use the card, it will be for small purchases and will be PIF each month.
