Just get a some Chase cards and they will make sure you never have too much credit.
23 accounts in total (including car, credit cards, store/gas cards)
however, I only use 1 or 2 in any given month. NFCU is my everyday card and I use my chase signature card for work related expenses so I can easily give them the bill to get reimbursed. Ive never had a problem with too many accts, just so long as I dont use them all...

Excluding mortgage and car loans you have 23 open credit, store or gas cards?

Chase - 3 accts (still listing 3 although I combined 2 into 1)
BofA - 3 accts (CC)
NFCU - 4 accts (LOC, Auto loan, 2 CC)
HSBC - 2 accts (CC)
USAA - 1 acct (CC)
PenFed - 1 acct (CC)
Local CU (Omega FCU) - 2 (CC and LOC)
5/3 Bank - 1 acct (CC)
Amex - 1 acct (CC)
Kay's/Jared - 1 acct (CC) - Planned on proposing to my now ex gf
Macy's - 1 acct (CC)
Express - 1 acct (CC)
Saks - 1 acct (CC)
Chevron - 1 acct (CC)
BP - 1 acct (CC - work related)
I might have missed one, but It think thats it.
Let's see, I have 16 open revolving accounts and 1 open auto.
