Just applied for a BofA CC (still waiting for response) and got approved for a CLI from $500 to $2000 from FNB Omaha this past Sunday.
On Halloween I applied for an AmEx Clear (rejected), a CLI on my Chase Amazon account (approved from $600 to $1000, though I wanted $2000), and the platinum CC for First Premier (denied)
That's 5 inquiries in the past 2 1/2 months, 4 on Experian and 1 on Transunion.
I know it has only been 2 1/2 months, but I really really want this First Command card now and I had applied for their platinum version before but I'm not sure if they considered me for their intro version (which they advertise to college students with no history). The reason I want it so badly is because I was told by a representative that I would be considered for upgrade to platinum status after 6 months and boy, it really is a great card.

Another reason why I want to get these applications done ASAP is because I plan to age my hard pulls for another 7 to 8 months before I reapply for American Express. I want to apply for the First Command card first which gives me 6 inquiries in 2 1/2 months before applying for this Capital One card. However, I REALLY REALLY want this Capital One card sometime within the next 2 months because I know I'm going to need it sometime mid-semester.
OK! So now for the questions:
-Will these 6 inquiries in the last 2 1/2 months affect me for this offer that I have in the mail? 0% APR until January 2010, 12.9% thereafter. I always figured that Capital One was desperate for more customers but if you guys tell me it'll help a lot if I do wait the maximum 2-3 months before applying, then I will. But I prefer not to.
-If I'm denied for this Capital One offer that I get in the mail, is it even worth it to try a few months down the road? I know they pull all 3 reports and that's absolutely killer.
-If I really do lay off any hard pulls for 7 to 8 months, any reason why I shouldn't apply for the First Command card?
-Is my number of pulls considered a lot? The pulls I have before that are 1 in April '08, 3 in February '08, 1 in November '07, 2 in October '07.
Capital One won't care
First Command I don't know about.
Amex will care, but there clear card is one of the hardest cards to get, maybe you should apply for delta or blue and then in 3 months convert to clear.
but right now I wouldn't apply for amex, if you have over 6 inq and new accounts that are not at least 6 months old
