Too slow building credit?

Over the year I stopped using my credit cards, dedicated 2013 to paying them off.

I have:

NFCU cash rewards(5K) balance $0

NFCU Travel flagship(10K) balance less than $200

Macys (1.5K) less than $200

BofA ($500) unsecured.  balance $300

Mortgage on auto pay since 2000

all utility bills on autopay

Annual Salary: 60K+

Never been late on any of my credit cards or bills. never have gone over the limit.  Only baddie in my CR is a car payment that was late when I returned my lease(been paid off 2yrs ago) but it will stay in my report til jan 2015 I think.

Had the cc for 2+yrs

The BofA card, I never use but my wife does, she always keeps a $250+ balance but pays it on time.

My Flagship was at almost 8K back in May on a Europe trip but have  been paying it off since...

So January 2013 my EQ fico was at 680 went I appd and approved by NFCU,  went down to 659  in feb after getting declined by Amex, no other inquiries.. after all this time it finally made it to 679.

Will I ever reach 700+?

Does my BofA visa affects my score with the high balance?

Looking to get  the Amex BCP, and another travel card

Re: Too slow building credit?

There are a couple of issues with your utilization.

1.  You're carrying balances on 3/4 of your cards.

2.  Your BOA balance is high in relation to the CL.

Both of these things may hurt your score.

Beyond that, it might be worth trying to get the late payment removed via a goodwill letter or something.
