Total Rewards Pre Approve question

I have been receiving the Total Rewards pop up on the Caesar's website for about a month when I log in. I also received a letter with a code that is good for 90 days. This is a card that I am interested in, but from everything that I have read, they pull Equifax and that report is not quite ready to get me anything but the highest APR. So I really want to not pull the trigger just yet.

My question is: what are the odds that they will continue to solicit the offer after the 90 days. Right now, I get the pop up just about every time I log in. But I am curious if they continue SP'ing the report after the 90 days, and I would still have a decent shot with a hard pull. I probably would like to apply closer to the end of the year.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Re: Total Rewards Pre Approve question

hi,yes the pop up will still be there when you feel that you are ready for the card. No worries..... The offer isn't going anywhere ....

I li wouldn't worry about the apr, even the lowest is still high. But their preapprovals are pretty solid. I wouldn't bother waiting

just to get lowest apr.... But I understand you wanting to wait. Do what's best for you and make sure you post your approval

when you decide to pull the trigger.. Good luck and congrats on your approval (in advance)

Hi ScoreOrBeScored... Thanks for your response. I was hoping that would be the case. I will have no inquiries and hopefully a bit higher score then to hopefully get a stronger SL as well, but just in case, how are they with APR reductions. I have not gotten up enough courage for apping without pre approvals, (or without for that case, lol) and fully understand that it is not guaranteed even then.

Re: Total Rewards Pre Approve question

If you have a pre-approval, I would go for it.  You'll get the card.  And they do some serious cli's down the road.

Re: Total Rewards Pre Approve question

It's an ok card with certain benefits that may or may not interest you but if you do happen to go forward with that approval i can confirm that after the first CLI (if you get one after approval) it takes almost 9 months before the next one.

I know this because i was approved for 4700 in Sept and immediately went thru the luv button for an addition 300.

Only this week i was approved (via luv button) for the first SP CLI since then. Just something to keep in mind about this one.

Thank you for reply CreditMagic7. I read your post often and appreciate your advice. I frequent Total Reward properties, so there is some value to the card for me. I have been rebuilding very slowly, so the CLI timing is not an issue for me. I will have no inquiries by August. I have a long term goal for a relationship with PenFed so I am trying to be very careful with apps and hopefully patience will pay off.

I don't want to get caught up in an AA situation with them that I have been reading about. My profile is not very strong yet as it is and I'm actually surprised to have the offer with my Equifax. So I will proceed with much caution.

It doesn't matter.  Don't rely on offers with any creditor.  Apply when your credit is in shape.

Inquiries are just one factor and typically a small one though those with thin profiles and/or profiles with issues can see a bigger impact.   In such cases inquiries aren't the real problem.  Don't overlook all the other factors.  If you have issues with bigger factors then definitely work on those.
