Tracking Discover Rewards

So last month I got the Discover IT Chrome with 2% back on gas and restaurants (up to $1000 in spending per quarter). With their one year cashback match, I've been usiing this card non stop. Now I'm wondering exactly when I'll reach that $1000 in spending and should switch to a different card to get better rewards. Is there a way to easily check this or do I have to go and manually add up all the money I spent in gas and at restaurants during the last month? The latter seems like a very tedious and annoying process, but I have a feeling that's what I'll have to do. Any help? Are there any cards that do what I am asking for?

Re: Tracking Discover Rewards

I usually just calculate up to the $1500 per quarter on 5% categories from the recent transactions page. If there is an easier way I would love to find out too. Almost all of my Discover spend has been in the 5% categories so at least for me it has been pretty easy to see when to stop using it.

Re: Tracking Discover Rewards

Go to activities and payments, then select spend analyzer. Spend analyzer will show the total amount per category, so you don't need to add up each transaction that codes as gas or restaurant. Since you have the chrome card, just add up the ones that ones that code as restaurant or gas. Subtract that from $1000, and you will have the amount leftover for your quarterly spend. The quarter started in July, and I have $24 for restaurants. My statement hasn't even cut yet, so this should track all the posted transacitons. It even summarizes it in a neat pie chart, which is great for tracking your spending habits month to month.

Re: Tracking Discover Rewards

I use a spreadsheet with one column to designate whether or not it is category spending. Then use a couple formulas to add up category spending and non-category spending, and off of that I calculate the estimated cashback for each month (which is sometimes off by a penny or two).

Re: Tracking Discover Rewards

This link was posted before to check the 5% cash back on the It card.  It probably works the same for all their cards.
