Try for AMEX BCP?

Would ultimately like to have the BCP specifically for the 6% grocery cash back but not sure if i should app now or if i even have a chance at it

EQ-654   TU-659   Ex-664

Barclay Rewards on 5/8, 1000cl

QS1 on 5/8, 3000cl

Upgraded Cap1 to QS w/ CLI to 2250

UTI roughly 15%

Inquireies = 15-20 in last 12 months (car shoping last August)

Just paid off my only delinquent account 10 days ago and have 2 collections from 2010

Do i have a chance or should i go with BCE for the 3% and no AF and then hope for an upgrade to the BCP later?

I don't think there's any difference in the qualifications of the two. It's up to you to determine if the addtional bonus makes up for the AF. After doing the math assuming you only buy groceries, it would take $2,500 in grocery spend to make up the difference, everything beyond that is double the cash back.

This doesn't take any bonus into account, but a bonus would pay for the AF for a while.

Right but also compare it against other options, such as the Sallie Mae, which wins till the spend is $3900

A $250 monthly limit for gas and grocieres per month, a lower signup bonus ($25 vs $200) and loss of ability to PC in the future is also something to consider with Sallie Mae.

Right, lots of factors to consider, just saying it doesn't have to be BCP vs BCE.  While there is a cap on gas, it is 5% vs 3%, and 5% on Amazon/bookstores might be more useful for some than 3% on select department stores, so pros and cons of each.

All of this is for another discussion.  I have already compared cards and the card i would like to ultimatley have is the BCP.  i just wasnt sure which would be the best option:

A-app for it now

B-app for BCE and upgrade later

C-dont stand a chance at either

I wouldn't get the BCE to upgrade later, since there's no underwriting difference, you'd lose out on the bonus, and you would have to wait a year to upgrade.
