Re: U.S. Bank

Thank you everyone for all the data, they (US Bank) truly sound like a great FI to be part of. Can anyone in here confirm that it is necessary to be at 0/12 to join? Myth/fact/legend???

Depends on your profile. Most need to be under 2/12, not 0/12. Some have reported approvals with much higher numbers of new accounts. If you have a strong profile you may have a chance, it's always a case by case basis. With them, it's usually a safer bet to apply when you're below 2/12. I love my Cash+ and Altitude Go. The have dished our pretty decent SP CLIs to me too. No complaints about them as a FI from me, I've been very happy with them.

Re: U.S. Bank

I have seen approvals at 1/12, but not at 2/12.  They might exist, but I don't know about them.

I've got the cash plus that I use for the 5% discount on utilities and about to be cell phone bill as well.

I got the Platinum card for a balance transfer, but got a disappointing credit line... asked for increase immediately and they did double the line with another HP.  Smiley Indifferent

No complaints yet.

Re: U.S. Bank

I've been a USBank customer for over 20 years and we have a private banker account with them (personal lender/banker/etc call him for anything directly).  We have never had a problem with USBank it's a conservative company that grew during the 2008/9 crash.

USbank's parrent company is the issuer of 60% of all credit union and small reginal bank credit cards.  You can tell by looking at the stock cash back %'s if it's ether U.S. Bancorp or Bank of America.

Bankcorp does not go by a strict x/12 month rule they have an internal system of looking at your overall credit history usage and if you are a real member of the bank.  I've known people in the Fico 750+ range that was turned down for the Cash+ becouse of no banking history.

If you get turned down open a checking account with your full direct deposit for a year and you'll get the card.

Re: U.S. Bank

@RobynJ USBank has some pretty good cards! AR 3% on all mobile wallet! Go 4% dining. Cash+ works for many. And Connect 4% gas, but has an annual fee after year one, but has a nice SUB. But since they have what seem like higher underwriting requirements, I think possessing a USBank card is a bit more rare - which makes me kind of want one. But I really don't need any more cards, so who knows if and when I will app one. I have the Elan version of Go called Rewards+, and like it fairly well. Only thing I don't like is the $25 redemption increments.

I was thinking about how AR would fit into my setup pretty seriously, so carefully researched USBank data points to determine how much gardening I might need to do to acquire the AR. Like @Bradac56 wrote, USBank doesn't have an exact x/12 rule, but my research indicated that 2/6 and 3/12 (including the current app) seemed to be a loose rule of thumb cut off point for them. I did see a few higher approvals, as well as some lower declines that otherwise looked to be qualified.

Good luck!

@RobynJ , your oldest account is not even a year old, so I'd file US Bank under "later"once you start gardening, and do some time in the garden. If we don't count AU account, you're at 6 accounts under a year (more like under 10 months) with extremely young profile.

Getting approval with such a young file and six new accounts is a very tall order.

0/12, 1/12, 2/12 aren't set in stone, exceptions are always made, but in general, after 2 accounts under a year, denial is very likely.

My last card with them (4tb one), I think I was something like 7/12, but that's an exception, it went through manual review, I do a lot of business with them, so I guess someone felt pity (or approved it just so that I'd go away).

You already got cards that are geared towards younger files, it's wise to stop before diminishing returns)denials start.

Conversely, you can give it a try, it will be one HP and one SP (different CRA than HP).

Re: U.S. Bank

@Remedios  I fully agree and in my first post I stated I am no way going to be approved for this as of now. It's just research to set a goal for. I'm thinking at maybe a 2 year mark after all inquiries fall off it would be a good goal to set. I keep reading about USocks in the garden and wanted to find out why they are so highly desired is all. I thank you for your input and everyone else's as that's how I have been able to be as successful as I have with my build. Heck my Discover is just about to graduate that says it all that my file is way to new lol.

Thank you, I hope they are as good as they are now in about 24 months.
