Received a letter from US Bank today:
"...we discovered that your triple points for mobile wallet spending were not awarded correctly. You should have earned triple points on mobile wallet spending for Google Pay transactions from 2/20/18 to 4/6/18. Unfortunately, you were only awarded one point for these transactions. The additional two points for Google Pay transactions during that timeframe will be awarded on your statement within the next few billing cycles."
One thing I don't like about their point system is that they don't have an easy way to tell which transactions are earning bonus points like Chase. The UR portal is really good at showing how many points each transaction earns, whereas US Bank just shows a combined total. I do give them props for discovering and fixing the issue, but I wish they'd make it easier to monitor what we're earning.

I think the issue with Google Pay originated from the name change. Back then, it used to be called Android Pay and lots of people complained they weren’t getting 3x because Google Pay wasn’t listed as an approved mobile wallet client even though it was the same platform — just different name.
I never used Android Pay or Google Pay now, but I’m glad they took care of you and others.
I also don’t understand why they don’t show points next to the transactions. Their Cash+ card does, so it’s silly they won’t do it with the AR. I called to kinda complain about it but they say it’s not available for this card. No good reason given.
I only use the card for 3x so when the statement closes, I just take my total charges and multiply by 3 to make sure all my points are there. So far so good.

Have long have you been using the Altitude for only 3X transactions ? Also how much do you spend on the card each month ?
I’ve been nervous to only use the card for 3X. I have a ton of Altitude points (195K) that I don’t currently want to cash out now. I don’t want them shutting down my account so I always try to spend atleast $100-$200 a month if I’m really hitting the 3X hard (3-5K in purchases)
I don’t do any kind of MS or buy giftcards but I will break out my work phone (Samsung) and go pay taxes, bills, insurance etc in person.
I've been charging only for 3x since I got the card at the end of February. Anything else isn't worth it to me. I don't buy gift cards or do anything weird with it. It's been 100% organic personal spending and the vast majority through mobile wallet (more Samsung than Apple to get Samsung rewards on top). My spending was higher at first, but I've started collecting more URs again for a family trip that requires a ton. I'd say, maybe about $3k to $5k per month. 99% on 3x categories. The very few times I got 1x was by accident thinking I'd get 3x, but I didn't. That only happened in the beginning when I was experimenting with some purchases, then never again. It took some time and math to figure out which ones didn't work. Showing points next to my purchases would've saved me the aggravation, though.

Interesting, I would rather put certain other spend on another card then if there’s no issues. I don’t MS or buy giftcards. Nothing questionable either.
I was unsure how the felt about the card only be used for mobile wallet spend.
This is a little off topic, but I’ve seen you post about real time rewards and wanted to ask.
Have you tried using Real Time Rewards for airline Giftcards or booking refundable travel using RTR and then cancelling the travel. Does USB take back the points ?
I’ve been trying to read up on FT about this, but there’s just so many other posts in the Altitude Mega thread that it makes it hard to find the intonation you are looking for.
Thanks
I haven't canceled a purchase, so I can't tell you first-hand what happens. However, the theory or program rules say that you don't get the points back. Once you get the text and agree to use your points, there's no turning back. If you cancel the purchase, your credit remains and is still applied towards your outstanding balance. Example: you purchase a $1,000 ticket. USB applies $1,000 credit to offset purchase. You cancel the trip and get refunded, but your $1,000 credit remains there and is used towards any other purchases.
This is something we were discussing in the other thread that can be abused. You could purposely purchase travel, get the text to redeem for 1.5x, and then cancel the transaction once the credit appears. This would allow you to redeem your points at 1.5x even if not used for travel.
I'd be careful with it, though. You already know how they are with gift cards and any MS, so repeated events could totally flag your account and get it shut down. I'm not sure this is something I'd be willing to experiment with.
ETA: As far as mobile wallet, they created this structure and whenever I've called, the reps even encouraged me to use it for 3x without my asking anything about it. Like they're giving me some advice as to how I can maximize my spend
I don't think they have an issue with it.
I don't want to jinx anything, but I doubt they'll keep it the way it is for long. At some point, they'll change something and most likely cap the amount like many other cards do.

The reason I ask about the canceling of a RTR purchase is that I have a joint Altitude Reserve account which my fiancé doesn’t ever use the actual card.
Come AF time, I’m going to ask for USB to waive the additional card fee. I will offer to return her card for destruction. There’s literally no benefit for the $75 you have to pay. If they won’t, I’m going to close the account and will need to cash out a bunch of points in a hurry.
Hopefully I will have a work trip that needs booked around that time and won’t have to do the above, but it’s always good to have a plan B.
I want the Altitude card so I would open another one as a individual account.
Stupid move doing a joint app for that card. They didn’t explain that there would be a mandatory fee of $75 even if we didn’t want a card issued in her name.
I’ve never opened a joint card so I have no idea what it’d take to remove one party from the account.
Aside from the fee, if you’re a joint user and not an AU, you’d be giving up a chance for both to get your own SUBs for the same card since many banks limit the bonus to once in a blue moon or lifetime.
In any case, you could still load the card to her mobile wallet and avoid the AU fee. I’ve added my card to 3 phones.
I also wouldn’t wait till AF time. I’d call now and ask how to remove your fiancée from the account since she’s no longer interested in it but you are and see what your options are. It’ll save you the hassle later and the annual fees. Plus you’ll have time to plan ahead.
Sorry OP for the major hijack. Just realized we went completely off topic. ![]()
