I called today on my FlexPerks Visa account about something unrelated and after my first question was answered I asked the CSR what is the process for requesting a CLI. She told me that she would ask me some financial questions (income, housing cost) and then would send the request to their "global credit dept." for review and I would "hear something in 7-10 days". People on this board have claimed that their increases were instant so I find this odd. Anyone experience this before?
Yep was told the exact same thing.

Did you mean to say "very seriously [doubt]"? Because that is my concern, actually.
I'm sorry, I did mean I very seriously doubt they would do anything.
My apologies!

At least I know I'm not going crazy...LOL!! My experiences with US Bank have been a little inconsistent with others on this board. I have found them courteous as usual but I have not run across one CSR that will give me a straight answer. Chase at least tells you that it will be a HP if you want an increase. US Bank CSRs have no clue.
It is my experience that US Bank ceased soft pull $1500 CLI's shortly after the recent credit card act became law.
I have verified this with CSR's at US Bank, on three occasions since the law was enacted, when I was past my last 6 month soft pull $1500 increase.
On each occasion I inquired about whether or not I was eligible for a soft pull $1500 increase. Each time I made this inquiry since the new law was enacted I was told roughly same thing by a US Bank CSR.
Paraphrasing... US Bank has changed their policy due to the new credit card law and based on company policy will no longer issue soft pull $1500 CLI's every 6 months. If one wants a CLI through US Bank it will be referred to the credit department and a review will be done via a hard pull on your credit report. Would you like to apply for an increase and if so how much?
I declined on each occasion.
To OP...I did not want to be off topic from your post but the question of CLI's came up in this thread so I shared my experience.

My apologizes too...didn't mean to hijack the thread. Just not enough stuff mentioned about US Bank. Thank you Plasticman for the clarification and based on your response I guess the soft pull days with US Bank are over (for the moment). Guess I'll have to work BofA and Citibank over for the next few years!
. To the OP, I hope your request works out for you...maybe you have a little more info now.
I only times I've seen CLDs on U.S. Bank credit products are when someone is consistently late on a credit product issued by U.S. Bancorp, or heavy delinquencies are being reported by other issuers, and then the line is cut to avoid further risk. Not to say other CLDs don't exist, however, CLDs without reason are rare within U.S. Bank.
Hope this helps.

You know, after receiving the offer in the mail, I went wandering around on the website. Under customer service, they now have a link for a CLI request. It asks for income and employer and few other questions, including the same info. for a joint owner of the account if any, and it indicates 7-10 business days for a written reply, so that would be consistent with your experience.

I am still debating about whether or not to respond to their "offer." They even call me now, but I typically don't answer a call where the Caller ID says "800 Service" as the originator. It's always a robo-call trying to sell me something and I find that rude. If you want to sell me something, have the common courtesy to dial the phone yourself and be available when I say, "Hello?" (In their case, the 800 number matches the number from the letter)
But I digress. lol. I still haven't called them. Don't know whether or not I will. Shrug. Honestly, the BEST that could happen is I get a $6K CLI (according to the letter) and it's my intention to pay off all the cards in a few months and close out about half of our accounts, including this one. So, I guess that while it would help my UTI a little in the meantime, in the long haul it really doesn't matter much. Although it might tempt me to keep the card, open and maybe I don't even want the temptation! :-)

I had to check this out for myself--sure enough after some digging, it's there. Request ranges from 500-7500. Good to know.

Why does no one take me at my word on this board? ;-)
