I never looked at how either one codes, tried both under TV/internet blah blah blah and mobile got one baby point per dollar.
That was about two years ago, not sure if it changed since.
We have Xfinity landbased internet/ cable also, which shows 4899. I have both TV/Streaming and Utilities as Cash+ categories on one card this quarter and these 4899 codes are getting 5%. Now I wonder if that is as Home Utilities or as TV Internet and Streaming.
So, the question I have; does anyone have a Cash+ charge of code 4899 and categories of Utilities and something other than TV/Streaming _and_ getting 5%?
I just found this on the max cash. Seems very useful! Is there a similar thing on cash+, couldn't find it.

I can confirm that MCC 4899 does not count as Utilities on Cash+. I have always had Utilities and Gyms as my two 5% categories on my Cash+. My ISP has MCC 4899 per the downloadable spreadsheet. My payments to that ISP do not earn 5%. I tested this twice and both times only earned 1%.

You can find the same optimizer for Cash+ here: https://cashplus.usbank.com/

No prob @Taurus22, I've got Sonic Internet (Sonic.net). Interesting that there's been some fiery forum debates over changes in their coding over the past few years. One discussion thread indicated that at one point they changed from 4814 (telecommunication services) to 4900 (Utilities) and also to 4899 (Cable, Satellite, TV). People threw a fit over the changes and the CEO was even addressing the complaints in the forums. They eventually returned back to 4814.
Anyone know if AT&T home landline would also fall into 4814?

The 2nd transaction showing in @UncleB example post appears to be AT&T home landline and is coded as 4814.

Thanks, I had forgotten. Usual USB goodness, separate site from credit card!

This is great @Titans84 , didn't realize the category spend would show there, thanks! Nice to have another confirmation mechanism other than downloading the CSV file.
4814 for the win!

Thanks I missed that, good news. That'll now be 3 of my monthly expenditures that fit conveniently under that code, essentially opening up a new category selection now that i can ditch TV/Internet/Streaming.

I sure miss these problems only using non-category cards ![]()
