US Bank Cash+ questions

So, I've got a few cards about how this card works.

First, they reported to bureaus even before the card came to me. No problem. It's being reported as opened almost a month before I actually did so.

On my reports, they put $8,500 (confirmed with CSR and also the welcome package). The TU report says it's a "Flexible Spending Credit Card".

(1) Just to be clear, that means I can spend above $8,500 but then my min payment will include the overage, right? (It'll be one heck of a large purchase, and given it's not my travel card, I doubt that'll be happening.)

They are not reporting my limit on either the online portal or the mobile app; and on Mint they're showing some weird $5,948 available credit. I've only bought about $50 worth of restaurant / fast food on it.

(2) Does the same thing happen to others? It it because it's a "Flexible spending credit card"? Weird because the CSP is signature too (my only other V/S) but it doesn't do these things.

I didn't come across any bonus offers etc. on the Cash+. All I know is that there's the 2%/5%/5% categories and I've put drugstore/restaurant/fastfood in that order.

(3) Am I missing any bonus earning opportunities? Adding AU, for e.g.? I don't recall the phone lady saying anything, but this forum is filled with tricks Smiley Happy

US Bank doesn't report the CL on the website (which is where MINT would get it), only on the statement.  Don't know why you get the avaiable credit figure unless you see that  on the site as well.

Flexible Spending means that they MAY authorize a charge that takes you above the CL (and usually will for small overages).  Then, as you say, the minimum will include the amount over the CL.

I don't recall sign up offers for the Cash + (you are meant to be so grateful just to get it!).  Remember the yearly $25 bonus if you redeem $100 or more.

Hehe. Yeah, I'm grateful for getting it (waited 7 business days to hear about the confirmation and another week to get the physical card). I must thank Wade who posted the number to call (the first one that I saw).

I don't know what Mint is doing; I'm having trouble signing up for their free EQ Vantagescore; the interface always fails to verify me Smiley Sad I've been writing back and forth to them about this, but that's another story.

So about Cash+, when do rewards show up?

I will remember to redeem once I reach $100 (but given all the nerfing news, it might take me a while to get there).

Also, how's US Bank with Cash+ CLI? Auto, HP, SP etc? I know they do SP CLIs on their REI using TU 04 Bankcard Enhanced.

What is the number you called to apply? I don't live near a branch at all but want the card. Thanks!

Re: US Bank Cash+ questions

Also be mindful that they report the balance at month end, not the statement balance.

So, if you're being tidy with how things report, PIF before the last day of the month.

There you go. That's the number that I called in to.

They may not give an instant result; my app was sent in for verification and it took full 7 business days. For app status, call 1-800-947-1444.

Thanks; I knew that from my REI card. I'm going to follow that advice closely.

Re: US Bank Cash+ questions

Anyhoo, is there a pattern or rule for Cash+ CLI? Not that I need one right now but getting some idea would be good.
