US Bank PC Process

I have two US Bank secured credit cards. At my 1 year mark, I wasn't in a position to unsecure the basic/regular secured card. I'm still not in a position to unsecure. (credit building is a process)

I'm thinking of closing the basic/regular secured card, but I may hang on to it depending on the pc process for US Bank credit cards. I'm hoping to someday in the far future do a PC from the basic/regular secured card to the US Bank Altitude Go.

I'm not sure at graduation if it automatically unsecure to the platinum card or am I able to choose which card I like or qualify at that time.

Anyone familiar with the process? Advice and suggestions welcomed.

Back when I PC a USBank card many many years ago I called in and asked if it was possible to product change and the person I spoke with was able to do it for me right that very moment. She went over the different cards available to me to change too.

Best thing to do is just call and ask.

Call and ask, keep it open if there is no annual fee.

Thanks @IntegerIntrovert  & @Royalbacon  I'll just keep it open and revisit my options when my scores are in a better place...

@sznthescore - my understanding is that in order to unsecure any USB CC, a HP may be required. Can't say I've seen any automatic graduations. Others can chime in.

If you decide to go that route, wait until your funds have been returned then you can explore any PC options that may be available for your account. The only products that are PC-restricted are co-branded or partner cards. The core cards seem to be fair game, though. Just keep in mind that if you have multiple USB CCs, they cannot be combined or merged.

@FinStar I'll just wait until scores are better and inquiries are slim to none. Notes taken. Appreciate the feedback.

I product changed from their plain card to a second Cash + last year.  I called the number on the back of the card, the agent asked me some verification questions, asked me which one I wanted to change it to, and told me they'd send me a new card in a few days.  the call took five minutes or less.

@archliberal Good to know its still possible. Did you have to keep the "plain" card for a certain period of time before PC'ing?

Re: US Bank PC Process

You have to wait with the PC once card unsecures. It takes approximately 30 days (can be less, wouldn't count on it) for the process to properly reflect in their system.

If you call sooner, they will tell you card is still secured, so save yourself some phone time. Once you have a full statement period with unsecured card, call to complete PC.
