I asked for an agent and was initially told some information was waiting on verification and give it a few more days. I pushed back a bit and he was willing to dig deeper. He transferred my call to a specialist. That specialist was in the fraud department. The application was locked because I had used the IVR to check the status of the application "more than once or twice." I jumped through a crapload of hoops with the not-particularly-pleasant gentleman on the other end of the line and he eventually cleared the application and sent it back to the credit department for processing. So, the wait continues. He cautioned me about calling back ever again to find out what's going on with it. Seriously.
10% savings wouldnt make this bs worth it to me. If they treat you like that now..... Inexcusable to take that long and they tell you not to check on the status anymore. I'd tell them that there won't be any need to check again because you want the application cancelled.
Well, in the spirit of FSR, congratulations on the new card OP. The 5% selectable categories are quite nice. I have two Cash+ plus a Fred Meyer CC, so my experience is very positive about US Bank.
Now, about that entitlement trend I always SMH when posters want to know which status line they should call to get the latest poop on their card status. Thanks for the confirmation that US Bank will put a fraud alert on your account for calling on status too many times. Look at it from their perspective; They don't know you. You apply for a several thousands credit line, they tell you they will get back to you, and then you start pestering them about why it is not instantly available. This would be a situation where the bank would wonder what large purchases you might have in mind, with no intent to pay. Of course you do not have such nefarious objectives, but how many few days has it been since the app? Patience, Grasshopper.
With US Bank, they are conservative. But they have some decent cards that in the long run, are worth going through the hoops to get into your wallet.
Good luck!
I just applied for the Cash+ Visa Sig the other day. Scores around 800. Got approved online for a 1k credit line, which surprised me as kinda low.
I will call for a review of the credit limit after I get it: however, I'm willing to build a relationship. The 2 selectable 5% categories, plus the 2% on gas is what made me apply.
I understand US Bank is very conservative, which is fine.
This afternoon I got the approval e-mail. The card was in the mailbox when I got home. Approved with a whopping $22,500 CL. WOW. They sure want me to get spendy...
