No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I will say this at the start I chose not get this card because the amount of spend that I could put on it. The spend issue plus the hassle of moving things etc would not make it worth it. Secondly, if I had decided to go for the card the funds to do so would not be available until after July 1. Now with the nerf changes it is definitely not worth it.
All that said , one thing that is very important to me is customer service. I have switched banks and closed credit card and stopped doing business with companies due this very issue. Getting no response to phone messages or emails etc me screams pull the plug.I will accept a little less in rewards if need be if the customer service compensates for the difference.
I understand that many of you can put the spend on this card that I cannot. As a result you have a more difficult decision to make in regards to pulling the plug.
I am on the verge of adding US Bank to my list banks that I will not do business with.
Currently I am looking at 2 credit unions that have Elan Max Cash. Just in case.

I have had lots of issues with USB, mainly concerning incorrect reward earning on various cards. All were eventually solved but the process was long.
OTOH, I just did my first transaction dispute. Apart from having to report it by phone (which is a big negative!) it's gone smoothly so far, with a very quick temporary credit. Let's see how it pans out. I also have some people on the merchant, Verizon, side looking into it, but not a great deal of hope. Paypal wouldn't help because it was 31 days from purchase rather than 30. (These were gift cards that I use to pay the bill, the bill came 31 days after purchase and I tried to use them to discover they had 0 balance. I guess if I do this again, check balance when they arrive!)
Their customer service is good, it's just that their processes are antiquated and their website features and technology are very lacking.

I do like the blurb on their login page:
Earn unlimited 2% cash back on every purchase, like Peyton Manning.
So at a headline level, gone from a gamechanger card to a basic flat 2% card like tons of other cards (and with an FTF). I guess with the changes this makes sense as relatively few are going to park money into checking to get more. I wonder if there has been a drop in applications or people don't understand the limitations and still see a chance of 3-4%
End of the week my IRA rollover posted. Waiting to hear back from US Bank on how I proceed with it there, how things work / if & how I choose what I would like to be invested in. I'm getting the 3% tier.

Not exactly the same but I did open a Roth IRA with USB. I put in the year max all at once. Other than them having my birthday wrong in their records, which always makes my on-line applications get kicked to manual (this is now finally fixed), it was fairly easy to do. I chose the self-directed account so I can pick my own investments. I just chose a half dozen low expense ETFs. I bought several weeks ago when the market was low and, since the last 2 - 3 weeks have been pretty good, my $7k is now $7.5k.
I know that means nothing over the long haul but still fun to watch.
Thanks for the reply. I'm going to call this fellow Monday. Not sure what I did, but I hope I can put the money into companies I want and completely exclude those I don't want anything to do with, despite how "profitable" they may be (Pharmaceuticals, "healthcare"). Sorry.
also, sir, (off topic, but) I spent 26 minutes getting my siggy like so, with the help of Ai. Might this be something you can do to get your things in order?

Good luck Greg.
Yes, yes, I know, you aren't the only one to (rightfully) give me a hard time about my ugly, outdated sig. Ok, ok, I will redo it within the next 4 weeks, I promise. I'll do it myself but thanks for the AI tip. ![]()

And with LLM hallucination who knows what cards end up in the signature. Possibly some VERY good cards that merely happen not to exist!
