USAA Changes

On USAA.com website, USAA has removed Mastercards for new applicants and as a surprise, for the AMEX products removed the foreign transaction fee as well (in addition to Visa).  I have both a Mastercard/AMEX and I am waiting for my MC to go to Visa and then my AMEX I am hoping the 1% foreign transaction fee gets removed.  I called USAA and they said no changes have been made to my accounts yet.

Re: USAA Changes

I would like to keep my World MasterCard. I'm wondering how long they'll leave them as is?
Visa signatures are a dime a dozen. It's getting tougher to get MasterCards.

Re: USAA Changes

IIRC the switch to Visa was announced a while back.  I was not aware of the FTF removal and will have to see if it gets removed for my USAA AmEx.

Why does the payment network matter?  Do you have merchants that only accept MC?

Re: USAA Changes

I'm annoyed that USAA is changing from Mastercard to Visa. It means I'll have to update my sig image.

+1

I noticed this just last night... all the MasterCards are gone except for the 'Affinity' cards.

I have a Visa with them, and am wondering if/when they will remove the FTF for existing card holders.  I also wonder if any of us will be offered or given upgrades to Signature status (admittedly it's not good for much, but it would be a nice gesture).  Waiving the FTF fee is more than just a 'gesture', though... that's real money!

I like taking advantage of Plastiq's 1.5 % fee some times. I can't get that discount using a Visa Signature.
