USAA Offer - Should I go for it?

I'm in the garden since June but I feel like I've been there for 15 years.  Avoiding any offers that come along but USAA came today it looks interesting.

Cash Rewards Plat Visa

0% for 12 Mths
3% Cashback on Gas ($150 cap on gas per month)

1.25% on other purchases

No Annual Fee

No over-limits fees

No penalty APR

Feels like a Visa Sig card.  Anyone out there have this one?  What was your score like?  I don't need it really but if I got a good starting limit, I could accelerate canceling out my CapOne cards.  I've used USAA in the past for some investment accounts but that was years ago.  I know they are good to have a relationship with for other products.

Or should I stay in the garden and go after a nice high CU limit?

Will it be much benefit over the cards you already have?

Are you eligible for NFCU?

Re: USAA Offer - Should I go for it?

B335is,

I have no rewards or benefits from the CapOne cards... 1 is old Orchard.

I don't qualify for NFCU.

The only reason I would consider apping for this one is they are good Texas company and I've not been denied approval on any apps since starting on this rebuilding journey in November.  IF I thought they would approve me for like a 2K limit then I would pass.

Look forward to hearing from other USAA holders.

BTW I also received an offer from AARP for their card and the rewards don't stack up to these... and I'm not ready to admit I qualify for AARP!

From what USAA has told me they will pull EQ. Personally I think they are a great card to have and I plan to add them my next go around.

Another benefit that is great is this:

Edit (provided you have a checking/savings account with them)

Cash Advance: 3% of the amount of each cash advance (maximum fee for each convenience check: $200). Fee waived when transferring funds electronically to a USAA deposit account.

People seem to like them and that makes sense.  If I was eligible I would probably go for it.  They're not as conservative as Penfed so you might get a nice limit.

Re: USAA Offer - Should I go for it?

Just curious...but how are you elegible for USAA, but not NFCU? I thought it was harder to be a USAA member.

Anyhow, USAA has always been great to me, when my original highest CL was 1k, i apped for their AMEX version, and they gave me a 7k CL, 6 months later went to 11k, then at 1 year, it went up to 22k.

I also had a personal loan and auto loan through them

NCFU Flagship(80k) DC Elite (40k) Cash Sapphire Preferred(38k) DC Premier (30k) NFCU CashRewards (25k) USAA Amex (22k) USAA MasterCard (16k) Barclay Arrival+ Elite (15k) Nordstrom (15k) BofA Rewards (12.5k) 4 Amices (50k)

USAA accepts Vets. Nfcu does not. Have to be retired.

Re: USAA Offer - Should I go for it?

My stepfather who has passed away was a retired Airforce officer.  That's how I qualify as my mother still has accounts with USAA.  Going to NFCU website and doing qualification process I can't answer any of the questions yes... my stepfather was retired Airforce but never has had a account there or member number that I can link to.

This make sense?
