USAA no longer allowing non-USAA Visa card linked to checking account overdraft protection

For those that don't know, for awhile now USAA has let you link your checking account overdraft protection to any non-USAA Mastercard or Visa.

This was posted yesterday by someone else at another site. I'm assuming/hoping that USAA will continue to allow any non-USAA Mastercard to still be used for overdraft protection; I didn't feel like calling USAA and going through all the security verification questions just to ask this one question. Maybe someone else will be able to find out the answer.

(P.S. If there's a moderator reading this, may I ask you to correct my misspelling of "protection" in the title ?)

This was on my November Savings statement. I take it because my checking is overdraft protected with a non-usaa MASTERCARD that I will be fine. My first line of defense is my savings account of course, then the MC.

AS OF 1 / 3 1 / 0 9 , NON-USAA VISA CARDS MAY NO LONGER BE USED FOR OVERDRAFT PROTECTION OR TO MAKE CASH ADVANCES TO YOUR ACCOUNT. MAKE CHANGES ON USAA.COM (KEYWORD: OVERDRAFT).

Re: USAA no longer allowing non-USAA Visa card linked to checking account overdraft protection

I had some time just now so I called USAA's checking account department.

The agent said that USAA is discontinuing its relationship with Visa. However, customers can continue to use non-USAA Mastercards for overdraft protection.

She said that customers who have USAA-brand Visa credit cards can still continue to use those for overdraft protection. If USAA is discontinuing its relationship with Visa, then I wonder if the USAA Visa cards will be phased out ?
