They keep saying "features and benefits" when referring to the changes that only apply to new cardholders after April 14. I wonder if existing holders will be exempt from the rumored 10k monthly spend cap and newly disqualified categories (eg taxes).
Alright I stand corrected, Reddit is not all B/S all the time. If they exempt income and property tax payments from the bonus that kills alot of the value for me, but I'll probably still stay in the program for things like Costco in-store where it's hard to find any cards that get 4%. It's a pretty decent card too with the monthly deals that are usually better than my Amex and Chase deals.
Per @DoppelgangerD's post #41
"Also be aware of how either the original or the revised Bank Smartly Card will continue to waive the Bank Smartly Checking monthly maintenance fee after the Bank Smartly changes on May 19."
They just can't get it straight can they? Not very "Smartly" of them. I closed my USB checking on Friday because they told me in my March statement the monthly checking fee would no longer be waived for "card holders".

Got a we are reviewing your application might take 7-10 day message.
Either they don't like me, or something I entered, or are delaying applications untill new rules take effect.
Only 7-10 day's away.

Only teasing, worst case a wasted HP.
No new loans, or cards other than, really not needed "Smartly".
@ptatohed is still my friend.

Assuming this isn't a VERY elaborate/well-faked troll, there are no changes at all (yet) for existing cardholders or new applications dated April 13th or earlier. That includes no spending caps, no excluded categories, no exclusion of IRA/CD/brokerage accounts, nothing at all changes.
Otherwise looks like the rumors are true: starting April 14th, anyone who applies will have a 10k/statement spending cap, many categories (including taxes, gift cards and insurance) excluded, and only Checking account balances will count toward status. Card is functionally dead for new applicants unless Checking rewards rise a lot sometime in the future. Alliant and the BofA series are strictly better.
Now we'll see how long the grandfathering lasts....
