recently someone got approved for a platinum in the approval sectio with a 590ish score.. Due to his long banking relationship I believe if this helps at all.
That does help, thanks CreditCuriosity! I went ahead and bit the bullet and applied. I got this message:
U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card

We're unable to provide a decision about your application at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. You will be notified of the decision via U.S. Mail in 7-10 business days. Now I'm wondering if I should wait for the mailed decision or call later today or tomorrow to check the status. From what I've been reading it seems like it takes U.S. Bank a few days to decide.
I am guessing if you have a mortgage/banking relationship with them, depending on your score you most likely will get the cash rewards card with a CL anywhere from 1k up.. Best of luck.. 99% of things with US Bank go into manual UW, not many instant approvals at all.. I would call monday on the automatic status line to see if you have any updates. Most likely they pulled TU. If you get the cash rewards vs. the cash+ you can at least PC that eventually when your CL gets to 5k to the Cash+.
@TroysMom1 wrote:I'm prequalified for the Cash+, Perks+, and platinum cards, and the apr ranges were shown for each card. However, my scores are in the 650s across the board, but my mortgage is through U.S. Bank. It never occurred to me to apply for one of their cards (and I won't until my scores improve), but I'm surprised to read that many are only prequalifying for the debit/secured card when I'm sure their scores are higher than mine. I'm still waiting to see if anyone has gotten approved with lower scores.
If they're showing you APR ranges, then you're not pre-approved. Did any of the cards have a red banner with "Pre-qualified" on it above the card?
THAT ^^^
The red banner.
My Albatross is a charge off. From...US Bank. Customer from 2007-2015. I still have Cash and Platinum appearring on my prequal page, but no red banner. I have called them this past year, and they said I could apply for their secured card, which doesn't graduate and appears as secured on reports. They would ALWAYS send me mailers for their Cash CC even through my 2014 Credit tanking, with their card!
I did not get their secured. It was a thought to rebuild my relationship with them, but our relationship through those years was rocky. Not a big fan of them and happy to be back in a Credit Union as I was up to 2007.
Never seen this red banner and I do have firm apr's.. This is new to me, doesn't mean another person application will be a denial. I tend to believe if you have a mortgage/banking relationship with them and a decent fico and haven't burnt them in the past you have a good shot not necessarily at the cash+ but the cash rewards or platinum or what not. As always, nothing is guranteed in the Credit card world, even the RED banner could be declined

Just pulled the trigger and...INSTANT APPROVAL FOR $15K!!!
j/k
Amen Curiosity.
I had no revolvers, great history with installments, and FICO's around 680+ when I had the US Bank Cash card. It was a $500 SL.
Edit: I had a clean file.
This feels like my own personal Credit Anonymous meeting right now.

From your Cards and CL you might actually get an instant on the cash+, but 15k not so sure of with US Bank or at least initially

I originally apped for the Cash+ 3 years ago while still on a DMP (my ex-wife had maxed out all my cards, so I paid a company to negotiate lower interest rates and distribute the payments; I was never delinquent though), and they approved me for the Cash Rewards card with a $6.5K CL. I upgraded to Cash+ 6 months later and got a CLI to $10K (I was off the DMP by then). I ended up closing the card because I just didn't like dealing with US Bank--outdated site, clunky mobile app, odd credit reporting practices (they report your balance on the last business day of the month as opposed to statement closing date). I'm tempted to app for it again, but I've noticed they keep nerfing it. Besides, I already made that mistake my DC.
