What's the consensus on USBank's rules on new accounts and inquiries?  Sounds like 1/12 for new accounts is backed up by enough data points.  However I've also heard inquiries can be under just as much scrutiny.

I'll be at 1/12 for accounts and 2/12 for EQ inquiries in December and was thinking of trying again for a USBank Cash+ at that time.  However, I'm wondering if I should wait until I'm down to 1/12 for inquiries as well.  My two inquiries this year are a denial for a USBank Cash+ in April and a new Citi Premier last month.  I'd hate to have to wait until next April.

What do you guys think?

How many inqs in the last 6 mos.

You didnt ask, but IMHO, declines begat declines. With 2 in just under 5 months--if it were me, I'd take a breather and ket things calm down.

I'll be 2/12 and 1/6 on EQ inquiries when I intend to try again in December.

You mentioned your Equifax inquiry count twice in this thread, but keep in mind that US Bank typically pulls from Transunion.

Also, are you going to be 1/12 or 2/12 for new accounts in December?   You started off saying 1/12 but then said 2/12 in a later post.

It's relevant as recent history does suggest that when applying for USBank cards 1/12 for new accounts isn't a disqualifier 2/12 usually is.

Don't think I ever had a TU pull from them!  All the pulls I can find (2011 and 2 in 2019) were EX in MA

I know that for the AR they specifically said it is random, "the computer" just selects one.  My daughter and I in the same state, a week apart, got different pulls for the AR.

Datapoint here that Socks pulled TU for my AR app and EX for my Connect app. EQ was left untouched and has not been pulled in any apps or CLI requests with Socks. Texas resident here for datapoints

I demand an investigation into this!

Oh now I know where you live. To bad its so small I cannot find it on any map, so you're safe

All my HPs from US Bank were TU, and that's the case for everyone in WA. I think they pull TU if you live in a state where they have physical branches, and if they dont, any CRA will do.

Like I said in the OP, I'll be 1/12 for new accounts and 2/12 for EQ inquiries.  USBank pulled EQ every time I tried before.

Remember, just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true.   I live in MA just as much as you live in WA...  As agents of Lukashenko  we both have to hide our Minsk location

Boris, they know who you are. I think it was ironing jeans that gave it away.

I am interested in knowing what you would use Cash + for. You have have that weird NY credit union everybody goes ga ga for, BofA Customized Cash, Chase Freedom Flex, Citi DC and Citi Custom Cash and the weird Synovis card.  Would you use Cash + for utilities? gym? I am not trying to be annoying, just curious. It is always interesting to see others' cash back system.

Remedios said to try for Max Cash Preferred and I agree. The Cash + card is going portrait style (vertical) and that is seriously ugly and would mess up your signature Smiley LOL okay, now I am being annoying (and playing with Smorgasboard fire).

Yes I have a lot of cards but none of them offer 5% on utilities.  Those are large charges I know for certain I will be paying every month.  Would be nice to get 5%.  Can't have too many 5% cards anyway to mix and match categories and optimize.

Cash+ is going portrait?  Never mind, I don't want it...

Just kidding.

I'm in the process of rearranging my cash back setup.  I'm earning minimum 2 transferrable airline points on everything, so I'm really only interested in cards that offer better than 3% cash back.  That means some cards are on the block.

AFCU - 5% on Amazon (used a lot) and rotating categories.  Definite keeper.

Amex Cash Magnet - only got it for the SUB and for the potential for an upgrade offer which I never got.  Planning on transferring out the limit and closing it.

BAC - both cards are in the SD.  Only keeping them for utiil padding at this point since they were generous with CLIs.

Cap1 QS - only earns 1.5% but no FTF so it has a special use case.  Keeper.  Might get a SavorOne to complement it.  We'll see.

Chase FF - 5% rotating gets some play.  Will be more useful if I get a CSP next year as planned.

Chase FU - stays in the SD, but also may become more useful if I get a CSP.

Citi DC - cash transfers to TYP which is worth more to me, so a keeper

Citi CC - 5x is awesome whether redeemed as cash or points.  Only one category at a time, though.

Synovus - also in the SD. Might close it. Haven't decided yet.
