Uber VISA foreign dining question

I am looking to add a visa specifically for foreign travel. I have a bunch of great Amex rewards cards that either don’t work at all abroad or do not earn bonus points. I do have a PenFed PCR but to only 2%. Chase is out of the question since I’m lol/24. Does anyone know if the Uber visa earns 4x back on international restaurants. Do any of the other bonus categories work abroad?

Re: Uber VISA foreign dining question

It's based on merchant codes so it should work so long as the resturant is coded correctly.

MCC codes are most likely standardized internationally when accepting payments on Visa.

I know it’s based on codes and Amex does code restaurants abroad correctly, but as a policy you do not earn the bonus points for the category on foreign spend. I’m looking to know if the Uber Card earns bonus points on spend abroad.

Just checked my statement.  It earned 4% in Canada.

Your "policy" statement just isn't true.   Amex tends to specify "US" for groceries and dining etc, but all Visa cards I have used abroad just use the MCC and give the bonus.

Re: Uber VISA foreign dining question

Corrected. Thank you. Amex does state it’s for us supermarkets and restaurants. Not really a “policy” but none of the bonus restaurants categories wouldwork abroad with Amex that I am aware of. The 4x would be a great deal since the majority of spend while traveling is hotels and food.
