Hello all,
I have made a conscious decision not to apply for new credit an year back and recently paid off all my credit card accounts. In order to increase my CL, I called Citi yesterday and requested a CLI. I specifically mentioned not to pull my credit report and she repeated my words saying that my report will not be pulled.
Today morning I received an alert from myfico monitoring that there is a new inquiry in my file. I got really frustrated and called citi and told them about the issue and asked them to listen to my recorded call. She said she is sorry and she will escalate the issue to her manager and I should be receiving a call within 24-48 hours.
What are the options in front of me? Can I get that inquiry removed from my file? Or settle this for something else? It's just frustrating to see somebody destroying something you are patiently building over time.
Please advise.
Thank you.Similar thing happened to me awhile ago; I asked if I was eligible for sp-CLI and the CSR said she would submit the request. Bam, next day there's a new hard inq. I reached out through Facebook and they also said they would listen to the conversation. They said the CSR was "ambiguous" and a few days later they agreed to remove the inq as a goodwill gesture. Give it a few days and if it's not removed either reach out through social media (FB, Twitter) or the EO.
Most people will say "always expect a hard pull, feel fortunate if it's a soft pull" (including me), but the CSR told me three times it would only be a soft pull. It's misleading.
Thank you for the reply. It's good to know that they could take off the inquiry from the report. This was so frustrating. How could we contact the EO?
I was cursing myself for not doing it online, learned something, I will not repeat again!
I sent you a PM. Goodluck!
Thank God they updated the handy CLI request link on their website - so easy and clear now. Back in the day I completely wound myself up with my CLI request via CSR since I spoke to three different ones who basically all said something different re: hard/soft pull. Argh!
and BTW... welcome to the myFICO forums.
I'm confident everything we be resolved w/ the advice received by the others who have responded to you inquiry.
Best

Good luck with getting the HP removed. Did they approve the CLI request?

They did a little bit but I would never take a hard pull for that card.
