Unrequested CLI due to non-use?

Logged into CK today and got a notification that Target increased my CL by $1,000. I haven't used the card since August/September when it was switched over to a MC.

Are they desperate or what's going on? I haven't used them recently because I'm getting 10%back thru Discover (ending today).

Re: Unrequested CLI due to non-use?

Some credit card companies are known to offer CLI's as a way to encourage the cardholder to use the account. At the bank I used to work for, we called those "proactive credit line increases." The Target Red Cards are issued by TD Bank. TD Bank's other major retail cards are Nordstrom and Nordstrom cardholders, including myself, received some very healthy credit line increases this year. Interestingly they were given before Nordstrom's annual Anniversary Sale and for many, before Christmas. Coincidence? I think not.

Re: Unrequested CLI due to non-use?

Congratulations!

I use my Redcard monthly so I have no experience with increases for inactivity. I think I read somewhere that after 6months of no usage Target closes the account.

I'd be happy to take your 1k increase Smiley Wink

Does TD issue any other retail cards, aside from Nordstrom and Target?
