Hi all,
I applied for a chase sapphire card (approved isntant) and I am thikning of aplying for an Amex card. So that I don't have to get another credit hit on my report.
I may be wrong, but before I apply I wnated to know that if I apply for other cards today, It will all be single inquiry.
The cards I am thinking are
Amex gold
Amex costco
Amex starwood
Capone venture
Which should I apply for?

No, it will count as a new inquiry. FICO scores credit card inquiries individually ~ only auto, mortgage, or student loan inquiries within a certain window are counted as one inquiry.
If you dont already have an Amex card and are in fact approved then you will still get a hard pull. And all those cards are different. Gold is a charge. Costco is cash back accumulaTed cash back. And spg is rewards for hotels or flights. Gold and spg are similar except the fact that gold is a charge card.
Are you of the understanding that applying for 5 different cards all count as one inquiry?
That's what it's reading like in your post.
All of the AMEX's MIGHT count as one inquiry, MIGHT... but CapOne will be a lovely three-pull from what I've read.

If you aren't an existing AMEX cardholder, you will get a hit regardless of whether you're approved or denied.
Existing cardholders, who apply while logged in, will get a HP if approved, SP if denied.
Some have had luck applying for a charge and revolver in the same day and getting only a single hit, of course, YMMV.
Oh boy. You will not be able to secure multiple credit approvals from MULTIPLE creditors with a single hard pull.

Nope. It will have a new inquiry.
Thanks for clarifying that up. I was confusing it with auto, mortgage etc.
In that case its better to wait a few months and then apply for an Amex.
Ona side note, how long before gettinga home mortgage should you stop applying. In other words, I f i am plalning to buy a house next year should my alst application be atleast 6 months before that?

At a minimum of 6 months. Remember inquiries hurt you for 1 year so ideally a year before.
As for apping for cards now, go for it. Sure you are hurt a little by the CSP, but better to get it over with and have inquiries age at same time. 3 or so inquiries aren't a big deal.
