@vikash1986 wrote:GUYS I am not kidding you take a look below. You know using the trains from Queens NY to Bayonne NJ every for 5 days would be a bad idea but its really inconvenient costing about 2. each way to commute. MTA train to Manhattan, NJ transit to NJ then Light Rail to Bayoone still have to walk 10 mins to work. I work for company that is anal about lateness so I don't want to chance it. However, everything a side it would not be a bad idea.

Well, I was in the insurance gig for a long time, in various positions, and I can tell you that the medical payments coverage you have comes at a high expense, and most often, depending on the individuals situation, if they have medical insurance, it's recommended NOT to have the additional medical coverages, because they are so expensive on the policy. With that being said, for some people, they feel better having it, but it's a personal opinion. If you look at your Dec Page (Declaration of Coverages), it will give you a line item of how much each item on your policy costs; typically (based on your city/state and accident rates that are reported within that city/state & various other algorithmic factors), the most expensive coverages are Collision coverage, and any Medical payment coverages. Just an FYI.
@ QueenofReinvention
But you do see my point why i refused to change my insurance carrier since I am getting a cheaper rate with a 500 deductible vs. the other company. I guess I will have wait s few more years before I make the switch. In any case I will look at my medical coverages with my progressive policy to see how I can lower the rate. Thank you.
You work might offer commuter benefits which would save you ton of money. If they don't compare the cost of monthly passes vs how much you spend in gas and tolls and parking every day. See how the math works out.
@ NJTurnpike
None benefits for commuting as of today. I save on tolls by using the Holland tunnel coming in NJ and Bayonne Bridge going home. As you know Holland tunnel is free coming into Jersey and going into New York with the discount price on the bayonne bridge is at 5.50 and Verrazano Bridge is free going into Brooklyn. On gas I am spending about 320 a month and I dont have to pay parking at work. But I am loosing out on the miles. I use up about 70 miles everyday. wear and tear is also an issue. I wish I can find a job that pays well thats in Queens. In any case I would be happy if we had any commuter benifits.

Back in october 2011 i was involved in a fender bender that I ended up being worng costing my insurance to go up. Progressive paid out 3600 i believed to the other party. The lady was on her cell phone making a lane change in merging traffic. Not sure how I ended up being the one to be blamed for the accident even after I lamented that the lady was on her phone. Then in September 2012 I rear ended cause my vehicle to be a total loss I was found not at fault but when I did a quote with USAA the accident came up on their end as me being 50% at fault. In any case with progressive I am paying 2760 every 6 months and Usaa qouted me at 6499 for both vehicle with the same coverages. After seeing that I am very reluctant to change. I have had insurance for about 3 years and beside what I mention I have never had any voilations or accident. I will shop around to see what better offer i can get. Penfed is making me pull my hair to get my vehicle refinance. The last decline was for paramiding debt. So mad at them. I had a loan with them not so long ago. The car that was a total loss was with them. Thank you p for your advice.
All insurance companies assign a percentage of fault to every accident. Could be 30/70, 50/50, etc. There is almost never an instance where a person is 100% at fault (in the eyes of the insurance companies). They settle on a percentage and that's where they negotiate payouts. If you were at fault it could have been that even though she was on her phone, you didn't brake or were following close to the car in front of you. There's a lot of reasons of why fault would be assigned mostly having to do with tailgating or following too close.
@Anonymous @ "besides what I said i have never had any violations or accidents" Are you living in some kind of bubble? You had two accidents in the last two years. Seems to me that you are in some kind of denial about your life. I hope you wake up just like Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky. You just had to have a Mercedes right? 65k a year is not really mercedes type salary, that's like Honda Civic salary (to people that are responsible with their money). Sounds like you guys playing "keep up with the joneses" is putting you in money problem situations. Repeat after me: you are not your mercedes. You are NOT your mercedes. You are NOT your Mercedes. You are not the contents of your wallet. You're not your Khaki's or your designer purse.
I advise you to wake up.
Thats sad because I was t-boned and the person ran a red light and was cited, I wonder if they do not have that person 100% responible
That's not true. Last year, I was in a accident where a woman hit me in the side while she was pulling onto a main road from a shopping plaza (accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake), then pulled out behind me so that she could pull over behind me and ended up hitting the gas again instead of the brake and rear ended me. She was found to be 100 % at fault. Too bad it didn't total my car because it was brand new and not worth much now. There is nothing on my driving record or on my insurance from this accident. About 8 years ago, I was on a major highway when someone who had a stop sign drove through it and drove right in front of me, causing me to hit the side of his truck because I couldn't stop in time. He was found to be 100 % at fault despite it taking about a year to resolve.

You are very welcome. My friends always ask me to review their policies and make recommendations regarding their coverages. You may also want to check out eSurance.com. They are a broker of sorts, and you put in the information, and they give you quotes. I am kicking myself that I didn't do it sooner. I changed last year, and I had been with my previous insurance company (Allstate) for years, but every policy term, they kept inching up a bit more, and a bit more. I'd had no accidents, etc, so I just let it go, until last May they sent me the renewal, and it would have gone up $25 per month! Well, I went through eSurance, and I went from about $128.00 per month w/decent coverages and $500 deductible, down to $67.00 per month! My car has been paid off since 2007, so I'm driving this baby for at least another 4-5 years!
@QueenofReinvention
I will give eSurance a try and I will post the results. Thank you for all the info.

I'm pretty sure Allstate owns Esurance now... And I used them a long time ago but they were crazy expensive. Of course anything is worth a try, right?
