Hey, guys !!
Hope that everyone is healthy. ![]()
I recently converted my Frddom to Freedom Flex for the 3% dining and drugstores. Previously, the Freedom was in SD because the quarterly categories were not good enough to get out of SD.
Here's the question:
I put all of my daily spend on CITI DC for the 2% and AMEX BCP for the 6% on groceries.
If I spend around $175 monthly (probably less) on drug stores and 'dining' that would be maybe $2100 annually (probably less).
3% would be $63 annually on Flex in those two categories. CITI DC at 2% would be around $42.
So, the annual gain would would be $21 if I use Chase FF for those 2 categories, rather than CITI DC.
I do not travel and only want cash back.
Annual spend is maybe $35000 to $40,000.
Is the $21 (or less) worth draining those charges and rewards off of CITI DC and using Chase FF worth it? Or should I keep using CITI DC for everything other than groceries?
I do NOT want new cards.
What would others do, in my situation?
It's a 50% increase in cash back, I'd pull it out of the sock drawer and use it. I am similar to you, I used Citi DC for years as our primary card but recenetly I have moved grocery, gas and dining away from the Citi DC. I still use Citi DC for non-category purchases and for recurring charges.

Since you have the flex, it's just a question of how much "effort" it would be for you to remember to use each card appropriately. $21 may or may not be worth it
If it were me, I would probably not bother about using the Flex for dining & pharmacy w/ those #'s since I like to keep the number of active cards low and $1.75/mo is such a small difference in return. (Really, if it were me, I'd be using the Flex for rotating cat's anyway, but that's a different question.)

The Chase card has "Chase Offers". Have you not found any use in those?
If you are a cash back you should take a look at the bofa line of cards like the bofa premium or the bofa cash back cards
I look at it like this..
If someone said, "I'll give you $21 to use the blue card instead of the blue/green card in your wallet..."
About the easiest way to make $21 that I can think of....![]()
I think only you can determine if $21 is worth it. To me, it is. I'm putting my $1k a month daycare charge on my PSECU @ 2% instead of my CFU @ 1.5%. I'm taking the extra $5 a month over UR points.

Exactly, free money just for pulling a different card out of your wallet. If you're going to be making the purchase anyway, why leave the extra money sitting there?

I would just use the Double Cash for everything. $21 isn’t enough to earn a slot in my wallet.
