Using 100% of CL for BT,is this bad ?

I was not sure if using 100% of my CL for a balance transfer would make me appear maxed out or do the banks recognize that its just a balance transfer?

I had a CL of 1500 on the city diamond preferred and I balanced transferred 1400 + fees on Dec 1st. I have already made 2 payments .

should I  start leaving a percentage of CL unused , meaning don't use the entire amount for BT?

I used 800 for BT out of a 1000 CL with US Bank.  They sent  another offer after I made my first payment  to use by June 2012  for 5.99% for a year for BT, I may need it.

You FICO score has no way of knowing that your high util is due to a BT - so based on your overall util - it could affect your score.

For scoring purposes it's bad...for usage purposes it depends on the creditor...some creditors will increase the limit in the first 3 months. I believe you can request a limit increase on the citi card within 90 days.  I'm not sure about us bank.

good luck on the citi bank card, i used the 0% for 6 months and this it what they said:

We recently received your request for an increase in your line of credit on your Citi

Forward

® Visa®.

We are unable to increase your available credit at this time. We consider several factors

when reviewing an account for a credit line increase, including length of time the account

has been open, timeliness of payments, and amount of payment with respect to balance. At

this time, your request is being declined because your payment amounts when compared to

your current outstanding balance do not demonstrate the ability to carry and maintain a

higher balance.

9 NE 3 Once your account has been maintained in a satisfactory manner for six consecutive

months, call us and we will review your account.

If you have any other questions about your account, please call our Customer Service

Center at 1-800-950-5114.

Sincerely,

 Good one dalebb !

I still have 19 months to turn this around so I guess I will keep my BT low when I decide to add more transfers to the card. Any idea what percentage to use?

Do you mean only use 20% of CL for balance transfer or keep 20% unused ? Sorry this is my last question.
