I was buying glasses on Zenni Optical's website, and there was an option to use Amazon Pay to checkout. I hadn't heard of Amazon Pay before, but it had me log into my Amazon account and pick one of the credit cards that I already had on there. This made me wonder if I'd get 5% back from using my Amazon card even though I wasn't buying from Amazon.
The pending authorization just says "amzn.com/pmts", and didn't even mention Zenni, so I think that it might work! If it does, it'll be nice way to get 5% back on stuff that I otherwise would only get 2% back on.
I wonder how many other merchants use Amazon Pay?

No. Amazon Pay is specifically excluded.

Dang. Thank you for the information. I wonder about Discover and their 5% quarter?

It looks like Discover might be useable with Amazon Pay instead of the Chase Amazon card.
Are you talking about the Amazon store card or Chase card? If store card, did it allow you to even select it? If so, I'm gonna be ticked cause I can't even use my store card with Amazon Japan.

In this instance, I actually used the Discover card. I was about to use the Amazon Visa, but changed it to Discover because I just got another It card and another year of cashback match, so 10% instead of 5%. Lucky that I did, as it seems the Chase Amazon card doesn't give 5% for Amazon Pay transactions, but the Discover It card seems to.
I posed the question for the Amazon card since the Discover only comes one quarter per year, and you could use the Amazon card year round. However, after looking into it more, it doesn't seem like very many merchants use Amazon Pay, and almost none of the ones that do were places that I shop.
But I used a 20% coupon code for my glasses, and if I get another 10% from Discover cashback, it'll make some already cheap glasses even cheaper!
