Using COSTCO AMEX/VISA switch in APP Spree

Was wondering if anyone else is also considering using the COSTCO credit switch to their advantage? Picking up 2 new Trade lines with no HP's is a nice rare chance and with good companies as well. New CITI card and using AMEX SP retention offer on BCE. Going to wrap that with another 2 cards (Chase INK PLUS and maybe NFCU low intrest CC).  Few other ideas are also possible. 4 good cards with only 2 HP's : )

I'm really confused here.

If you have the Amex Costco card, it will become a Citi card, but it won't really be a new account. It will just report differently.

When I hear "retention offer" I think of extra rewards to keep a big spender's account open. I don't see how it would involve a credit pull or a new account.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select
