Using point cards responsibly?

I recently was approved for a Freedom Card, and have been thinking of how to best rack up the points. I was thinking of paying all my bills with it, like mortgage, etc and then paying it all off before payment due. Is this acceptable, is there a benefit, what might be the downside? Not sure I have thought through all the aspects and would appreciate any input.

Re: Using point cards responsibly?

Put as much spending on the card as reasonably possible, but be careful about fees that some places might charge you just to pay your bills. For example, if your landlord charges your $50 to charge your $800 rent, it wouldn't be worth putting on your Freedom card. Pay close attention to those 5% categories, use the UR mall if you make online purchases, and set up a Chase checking account for the 10 & 10 Chase exclusives bonus.

What the heck is the "UR" mall?  I will check into the Chase Checking?   And yes, I will check for any fees to pay with CC.  I have a mortgage not rent, but they may still charge a fee. Thanks for the input.

The UR Mall is the online portal where you can buy things from merchants with as much as a 25x points bonus. Similar to ShopDiscover, Citi Bonus Cash Center, etc.

Ok, thanks for the information.  I will look into it.  I don't shop much, except for stuff for daily living, but occasionally I might need something.  Hmnnn.  I guess I will check for car rentals and rooms for an upcoming vacation?

There are a lot of merchants so if you're ever about to make a big purchase check the UR Mall first and try and spend through there.
