So, I haven't heard any chirps about this card in a while. Just wondering if anyone in FICOland has had any new experience or DP's with them lately? I'm still trying to find a backdoor into this CU to bypass their strict geo-fence. I'm in SC, and haven't had many options so was hoping maybe someone had news of loosened restrictions, or maybe a new backdoor?
I've been jealousizing over this CC for over 7 years, since I started my credit history. This one is definitely my unicorn card.
The strict fence happened because of the myFICO effect which is why you don't hear about the card anymore. I wouldn't bet on them allowing a back door again any time soon.
OP, as mentioned upthread, no recent "loopholes" are known nor have been reported in PF as far as membership goes. Typically, once some CUs clamp down, it's rare they revert back to the loosey-goosey ways.
Guess I need to check my family tree.....see if I have any relatives that live in that area....lol.
Try seeing if they allow membership in Chamber of Commerce in one of the member cities as a legitimate qualification.
I made a similar post not too long ago, because the language on their website suggested you can become a member by joining certain organizations if you lived outside their geographical area. When I called to inquire, they stated they were unable to locate which organizations, and they would give me a call back. Never received the callback.
@Taurus22 Vantage West sadly remains eternally out of reach. I've actually had a couple lengthy phone discussions with CSR's about every possible angle to gain eligibility. Straight up no on any organizations unless you live in Arizona. When I asked about flexibility of addresses not within the footprint (Maricopa, Pinal, Copper Basin, Pima, and Cochise counties), but still in the state of Arizona, one CSR seemed to allude to the possibility of gaining eligibility, but wouldn't say so directly. Even military have to be stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force base specifically, and for family eligibility it's strictly immediate family members.
One method I haven't tried would be mail forwarding, and that is a huge stretch, since the addresses you can secure through known services are clearly industrial/business locations (such as FedEx buildings or within business parks, etc). also, that wouldn't solve the issue of providing an Arizona ID or DL.
Seems like parking $100k at BoA for Platinum Honors would be easier than trying to break into VW's medieval fortress, sheeeeesh!

I would suggest the best "back doors " would be (a) volunteering for an organization in their geographic area (perhaps you can provide some services remotely) or (b) calling this number -- 800-888-7882 -- and finding out what organizations outside their geographical area you could join that would make you eligible.
I doubt you've been waiting 7 years, because it was only around 3 years ago that the geo fence was erected.
Im curious whats so special about this cc?

I was going to gently ask the OP why he didn't join prior to the beginning of 2018 when they geo-fenced it. As soon as it became TFOTM, I (and my wife) jumped on it, all the way from Indiana.
