Re: VentureOne VS Venture?

My reports explicitly say "Too few accounts in good standing" is a negative factor affecting my score, and goes on to list the fact that I only have 3 accounts as a negative factor affecting my score.

Re: VentureOne VS Venture?

What would you have product changed to? As someone who already has a QuickSilver, what could I product change to?

Re: VentureOne VS Venture?

The information you're giving is not entirely true. The points earned with the Venture cards is NOT only redeemable for travel, you can redeem them for other things like gift cards, just like the Quicksilver. Also, the way Travel redemption is set up with the Venture card is distinctly different (and better) than what is available for you with the Quicksilver.

How is it better than with quicksilver?

With quicksilver, you buy ANYTHING, and click a button, and bam, statement credit (or check or whatever you want)

The quicksilver is still a better choice than ventureone, no questions asked. Ventureone gives a smaller return, with a more limited range of redemption options.

venture is a decent card if you spend enough to make the extra 0.5% worth it with the annual fee and everything, or for the signup bonus.

Re: VentureOne VS Venture?

Just because you have the option to book and pay for travel directly with the points and don't ever have to come out of pocket and then wait for a statement credit.

There is no waiting. The statement credits are instant...And the money doesn't come out of your pocket...it's a credit card. That was the whole reason credit cards were invented. So you could buy things without the money coming out of your pocket, and pay for them when you do have the money.

You're fighting a losing battle. At the end of the day 1.5%>1.25%...there's no changing that. VentureOne is a useless card that is there to convince people that because the world "Travel" is on the card, it is immediately more valuable, and all it does is save capital one money by paying out 1.25% instead of 1.5%. While that .25% isn't a lot of money to us, it is to capital one. That 0.25% can add up to a ton of money when you consider how much spend goes through those cards every day.

Re: VentureOne VS Venture?

I should have rephrased. And I'm not fighting. A better example would be if I need to book a flight but don't have enough available credit to cover it. With a Quicksilver I'm sol. With Venture I don't need the actual available credit as long as I have points. That was my point. You can actually BOOK directly with points rather than credit.

Yes, and with quicksilver, if you have the points, you just redeem them for a statement credit before you purchase, freeing up your available credit, and allowing you to buy the ticket.....

The VentureOne card has NO redeeming qualities.

Re: VentureOne VS Venture?

OK. Fine. The card may have no redeeming qualities to you. But ultimately, that fact is a highly individual one. And to someone who has the card, with a 0% APR and or lower APR than on the other cards available to them, as well as a heftier sign up bonus than the other cards available to them, as well as a much larger credit limit than the other cards available to them, the Venture card has an ABUNDANCE of redeeming qualities.
