Working on my husbands credit. Biggest issue is a low Average Age of Account History. Credit specialist advised I add him on my Victoria Secret account because its a good long standing account. I called Comenity Bank/VS inquiring about adding him on my account as a joint user ("piggy back") & they told me they don't offer joint accounts and wouldn't report the account on his credit if I added him as an authorized user. We have an old Eddie Bauer collection still reporting which is also Comenity bank. He was just an authorized user on that account and it says so on his credit report although It was long ago when I added him to that account so I don't remember if i gave them his social or not. I'm confused. They seem to only report authorized users on certain accounts. If you have an Athorized User on your Victoria Secret Account: does the account report on their credit? And, if it is reporting, Does it report all of the history from the date account was opened or does it report from the date they were added on as an authorized user?? I would hate to add him onto the account just for it to show up as a newly opened account and then get the opposite desired effect. Thanks for any info.

I think the collection is a bigger issue than the AAoA. You should post in "Rebuilding" if you want advice on how to deal with collections.
FWIW, VS doesn't currently ask for SSN for AU, so I'm not sure adding him would be of benefit.

OP originally posted in Rebuilding and wasn't getting a response . I moved it here because of the AU question

Well, darn them! Heheh.
Thank you Lexie for moving my post! I was starting to wonder if anyone could even see my question. ![]()
The Eddiie Bauer collection is paid off and due to fall off next month, December 2013. I don't think that's having much of an impact on his score by now. Also, all of the credit score analysis I buy indicate the reason his score is what it is is because of AA of A.

AFAIK, collections (paid or unpaid) have a strong effect on score for the entire time they're on the CRs. Since it's so close to falling off the CRs, I think GWs for removal would just be a waste of effort at this time. I'm curious to see how his scores change once that's gone, though
Just an update on this. I did add my husband on to my VS account and I just got notification from CreditKarma.com that this account is now being reported on his credit report. Haven't ran his scores yet to see if there was a jump however on CreditKarma his AAofA went from an F to a C so that's got to be a good sign. Apparently Comenity (Victoria Secret) does report AUs as long as they are your spouse. Also, when I added him on as an AU I did it online and it did not ask for his social security number so they don't need the social to put it on someone's credit reort.
