I don't prefer one over the other. Each offer something the other one doesn't and I manage to utilize each one when the situation calls for it. I don't use cash anymore. If I'm going to buy something anyway, I would rather get rewards for it and use the cash to PIF.

sure there is, putting down a amex charge card, for a 6k purchase and knowing it will be approved when your highest visa or MC CL is only 3k, knowing that if you have an issue have to dispute a charge you know that the purchaser was more leveral with AMEX than most typical MC and Visa cards. And the feeling knowing that if you AP for a new card it will be backdated to your membership year is a nice feeling as well.

LOL the thread was titled Visa and Mastercard and somehow AMEX came in and said "you're done. I'm in charge now."

Their loss. I'm heavy on AMEX rotation usually.

They're just payment. They're not royalty. The specific product is what matters to me -- not the payment network. That said do whatever works for you.

Any oversimplifiied generalization is useless. Every option has pros and cons. There are definitely advantages to cash for parttcular situations just as there are advantages to credit with particular situations. Each also has drawbacks depending on the situation.
I tend to use credit whenever possible but there are merchants that only take cash, merchants that offer significant discounts for cash, etc.
Assess each situation and don't rely on such sweeping generalizations.
