I don't see what the problem is... I mean ya I'm sad they are closing the card out and I will loose it but cards are cancelled from time to time and I don't see why the bank would remove it or why it should be or why you want it to be... it's a good account that will report for 10 years.
Called Comenity and did confirm the the discontinuing of this card by July. I decided to close the account so it will be noted in my reports as "Closed by Consumer".
@gdale6 wrote:Yup, I have confirmed this to be true and I saved the closed by grantor and terminated the account myself this morning. I pressed for information on why and got that this was solely a Vitacost decision and that they no longer wished to offer a credit card of any kind so the bank had no choice but to terminate the relationship and close all accounts, so I also sent Vitacost a ravaging email outlining what they have cost me and deprived me of in my credit profile with a demand for removal from ther system permanently and they will not receive another dime from myself or my family from this day forward.
It makes sense it was a Vitacost decision, I wonder what changed in the what, 6 months since the card was introduced? My limit was $7500 - good, but certainly not a ground breaking limit compared to some other cards I have.
I just proactively closed my acct too.
they were sick of getting 1500% more traffic then normal and people adding things to the cart just to cancel at the last minute!!
sorry vitacoast !! but if you gave me the card the first time i would have stopped!

I completed a full application for mine and I usually buy my pre-workout supplements, creatine and protein from them. I'm sure some got it for the purpose you say, but not all of us did.
Still haven't recieved the letter of closing, but I guess I should be proactive and close it too. Opened in Feb with a SP. Goodbye Vitacost MC! I'll still order from Vitacost for all my workout supplements, just like B335is

Well, I just called Comenity to close my account since the csr confirmed that Vitacost and Comenity are parting ways. There really is no need to speak to a csr as you can say "close my acct" at the computer prompts and get the same results
Was very surprised to hear the csr telling me that myself closing the account could affect my credit and lower my score and just let them close it and nothing would happen. I told him that's just the opposite of what I've always heard. I have a $0 balance so no ding there. Possibly utilization would be affected, but not by too much since I have other cards.
I actually have 3 other new cards soon to be reporting and yeah I know I'll take a ding there. Opened a Comenity Fuel Rewards MC $5k and a Comenity Orbitz Rewards Visa $2.5k in May and both those card will replace my Vitacost MC $7500 card that I'll be losing. Although, that wasn't the intention when I did open them, but good riddance and their 24.9900% APR. I have a few other Comenity Bank cards that need to be on the chopping block too. No more Comenity for me
Oh yeah, the 3rd card is a Discover IT $3.5k 15.99% opened this month. Also 0% for 14 months on BT/purchases. LOVING THIS CARD Already~~ Discover just sent me my new card with the Cassette Tape design and I couldn't be happier!
Oh how weird, the csr said he closed the account, but when I sign in it still states that my available credit is $7500. So I just called 18778823535 and told the computer to close the account and now when I sign in, it says my avail credit is $0. Make sure you sign in to see if you if your available credit is gone -- just to make sure
Yeah, I realized that yesterday when I did research on "closed by consumer" vs "closed by grantor".
Closed by credit grantor "used" to look bad in the past on manual review, but the article stated that people nowadays are opening and closing cards when better cards come along, so it doesn't have that same effect. Regardless, I feel better that I closed it
