WARNING

Anyone that's using these sites to check they're credit reports better keep your eyes on how much money these snakes are taking out of your account. I have ha problem with checking my accounts and seeing big payment that's been unlawfully taken out. First it was Identityguard out of nowhere taking 79.99 for no reason. then it was privacymatters taking out $159. Now I just check and saw that privacyguard just took out $129.99 from my account. I got my money back from the 1st 2 but I'm gonna take Privacyguard to court. It's not about the money it's about I don't like people stealing from me and that's exactly what they are trying to do. I did a google search and found out its a lot of other people that this has happened to. I'm canceling all of them.

Re: WARNING

None of these are related to MyFICO. This is why we tell people to check here for reports and for the only scores that matter. Maybe these were renewal fees of some sort.

I know how frustrating it can be when you have unexpected charges coming out of your account.  However, as another poster mentioned, the issues you have with Privacy Guard, Privacy Matters and Identity Guard are unrelated to using MyFico products.

Consumers frequently let their guard down when signing up for free trials for any product.  Generally, if a credit card number is provided, there will be a clause somewhere (probably referred to as the Terms of Service) explaining that when the trial is over, they will charge the card for the full services provided.

Sometimes this information is readily available on the web-site and sometimes it is buried on the sign-up page.  If you don't print it out at that point in time, it may be difficult to go back and find it.

To avoid those charges, the consumer must contact each provider prior to the free trial expiring and cancel the product.  This includes following up on trial products that are offered through  MyFico.

Hopefully, you can get this billing issue resolved with Privacy Guard without the emotional trauma of truly considering going to court.

My apologies if I have incorrectly assumed that you signed up for the services and have unsuccessfully tried to cancel ... or if you were "tricked" into enrollment in some other manner.  I do recognize that there are many complaints out there from people who have tried to follow instructions and continue to have problems getting away from Privacy Guard.

Edit:  The T&S for Privacy Guard is actually clearly available on the sign-up page:

I can try the service with the first 2 months for $1. My membership will be extended automatically for a full year at the $129.99 annual membership fee, and automatically renewed annually at the then-current fee, billed to the credit or debit card I provide unless I call toll free during my 2-month trial to cancel. I can call any time to cancel and get the unused portion of my then-current annual fee returned. By entering my information and clicking "Submit", I acknowledge that I have read and agree to these offer details and Terms & Conditions, and it constitutes my electronic authorization to PrivacyGuard for billing of the annual membership fee without my having to do anything further. The Credit Report is mine to keep.

Re: WARNING

I only use Mycredit keeper and its linked to a CC that offered the serrvice which is just a 9.95 fee however once my scores get up a little bit more I am discontinuing them and only using MYFICO all the others are really irrelevant unless you just want to monitor whats on the reports --but somethings thats not good if its a month behind or so fluctuating from the real thing----yes you have to be careful its obvious its a lot of companies selling a similar thing just to make money and at the end of the day none are really accurate Smiley Sad but MYFICO--IMO

I'm glad you caught that Timothy ... when someone says something was taken out of their account, my dying brain cells should recognize that they used a debit card instead of a credit card.  Since I never use a debit card, I tend to think "credit card" when referring to online use of a "card."

I would much rather a "surprise" show up on my credit card, than on my checking account.  Scares me to death to think of all the returned check and/or overdraft fees that might kick in when using a debit card to order on-line services or sign up for trials.  Smiley Mad
