Does anyone have platinum balls? That would be impressive... No offense, Fin Star

LOL.  No offense taken ccdad!  All in good fun.  Well, if it's the Capital One WMC (some versions), I think those are "grayish" Platinum balls.  All other ones are what most folks referred to commonly as the Clown (Balls) logo.... I guess those could be Platinum too (and very colorful)!  Smiley Very Happy  And, for the record, nothing wrong with Platinum MC or Visa!  Most of my CU Visas are issued in that tier (with rewards of course).

Re: WEMC and VS

I didn't even know what WEMC was until I saw it on the back of my Citi Prestige card and googled it. Doesn't seem to do much of anything, especially when compared to the benefits of some of my cards. IMHO, not much value added unless you don't already have the premium benefits that come with a majority of AF cards

Well, not necessarily.  Some silver balls are available on the cheap!  For example, for those who are impatient or profile is not-so-perfect (or too much open credit), the GM BuyPower by Capital One comes in WEMC starting at $300'ish.  Yes, shiny but may tarnish quickly.  Given the experiences shared by so many, most people opt for just "clowning it" until better balls arrive!

Re: WEMC and VS

There are some benefits to the VS, WMC, and WEMC, but truthfully I don't really need those benefits.  There is only one card which gives me a benefit that I can use and it has nothing to do with the level of the card and that is the primary car insurance I get with one of my airline cards.

I will admit it was nice when I got my first VS card, fairly nice when I got my first WMC, and just really a odd surprise when I got upgraded on another card from WMC to WEMC status.  I didn't even get any warning before it happened, I just got the WEMC in the mail.  I had to look at the card and wonder why they were replacing it.  I looked at the number got the other card out and checked to see if the numbers were the same and turned it over to see if the CSV had changed.  It was a moment later when I realized it was an upgrade.  It did feel a little nice seeing it the shiny silver emblem, but that was about it.  I think I stuck it in my sock drawer after that, since the primary reason I got it was for the bonus signup points for the airline......

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

Re: WEMC and VS

I wanted what I couldn't have. In the beginning of this long credit journey, I only had regular visa, or visa platinum, or platinum mastercard. I tried my best to get them upgraded (as long as it doesn't cost me anything, why not?). Well... Now that I have both visa signature and wemc, I don't care for either, I have reached my mini credit goal and I'm done. 😕
