WF denied CLI

After raising my NFCU Flagship from 20K to 28K and scoring a NFCU More Rewards 25K CL and after waiting for 6 full statements to be completed on my WF Autograph, I went into a WF branch and had them do a CLI as I have a paltry 1K CL. The response from the rep's call was "you'll get a letter in the mail", however, the rep said she wouldn't worry because "I'm sure you'll get what you asked for or thereabouts which was 10K CLI. Yesterday the letter came with an "Insufficient experience with present account" excuse. I've funneled thousands of dollars through my WF four year old checking account. So much for relationship banking. I'm thinking of closing my checking account and moving to BofA.

FICO 8 760+,  no BK, no baddies, AoA 1.8 years, Auto loan about 50% paid off, never late on anything.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Re: WF denied CLI

Through your checking account... but not through your 1k Autograph? They won't see a need to give you a higher limit unless you're using the limit you have, heavily and frequently. That's pretty common.

Re: WF denied CLI

@unsungivy Thank you for your reply. Yes, not through my 1K Autograph card. The first four statements I PIF then decided to throw them a few dollars in interest at aroung 10% utilization (overall Util around 3%) thinking it might be important to make a few bucks off me. As the bank rep said, and I agree, what am I suppose to do with 1K CL. I would never waste a HP for just 1K and now no increase. Always paid on time.

I see your AoA is only 1.8 years. That might be a factor as well. What other cards do you have and limits? I've had 2 WF  cc accounts for a couple years whereas some are able to get  sp cli but I never can so I don't even trySmiley Wink. In my case it's low income and debt but their cards are used and always PIF.  Paying them interest isn't going to work because they either like your profile or they don't lol.

Just know your profile. If you have good income, low inquiries, low debt, these are factors I believe can help someone in their decision.  Often times when a person gets a $1k limit on any card from a lender there usually is a reason for itSmiley Wink

Re: WF denied CLI

Profile aside, you are asking for a  ten-fold  (10x)  CLI.

Even if your profile supported the request, it would be a rare case of any issuer, let alone WF granting this.

Wait another 90 days, and request a ~ $2,000 or so increase.

Re: WF denied CLI

I opened a active cash 16 months ago, mostly ran up the balance to the SL, 20K that's a lot - always paid on time but usually the minimum. They gave me an auto increase of 3K several months ago which I almost used all of as well, payments and history being the reason. The balance (9K left) is now getting paychecks thrown at it which will mean me paying it off in month or so.

they declined my request to 30K because lack of payments, balance vs payments, etc with the Wells Fargo account.
Didn't mention any of my other accounts reported.
I'll try again in January.
I suggest you keep using the card and making payments.

I opened a checking with them hopefully i will like it, hopefully they'll like my deposits enough to grant me my CLI - I'll close the checking next year if they don't or I don't like the bank.

Re: WF denied CLI

@AverageJoesCredit IMO I think I'm one of those that WF just doesn't like.  Iasked for a 5K increase initially on the phone call in the branch but was prompted by the rep to go higher to 10K. I thought she might know better than I did, so I took her suggestion. I'm just going to close my checking account and they can go pound sand. If one day they deem I am worthy then I'll have a different attitude. Thanks for your help!

@NoMoreE46 Thanks for your help! As I replied to @AverageJoesCredit , I understand what you're saying but I did this at the suggestion of rep inside the branch.  There's a sucker born every day...lol
